7 years here and I think a 5. Character is really difficult to assess in interview process but those lacking always become known and don’t last through a round or two of upward feedback. 5 doesn’t mean perfect people but the best in consulting.
Of course we are relativising "character" to a subset of humanity prone to lying, manipulating and story telling. If we would be rated by the rest of society, surely the numbers would resemble those for lawyers and bankers! 😃
I’ve met some 4 and 5s. But also had to endure a bunch of 1 and 2s. Overall majority is probably 3s, just like our ratings. And what someone got for year-end rating is not necessary an indicator of his/her character.

at my prior firm EY I would say 2.5, at Booz Allen I would say 5
