1st yr out of college and have anxiety about $. Maxed out 401k and Roth IRA, built up emergency fund, and maxed our ESPP. What’s a good benchmark # for how much I should be saving for my age?

Forgot the number. You’re doing everything right and at an early age. Keep doing what you’re doing and 20 years from now, you’ll be sitting pretty.

Great start OP. If you have more money to invest consider maxing an HSA then putting some in a brokerage (non-qualified) account as well.

How do you have any money to spend on fun? Genuine question!

Keeping your rent low means you’d have to either find a great deal, live further from the happening spots, or have roommates which doesn’t always turn out to be successful no matter how good your due diligence.

Must be in a low COL city or living at home with parents and traveling. With the latter this is easy, but I think it’d be a little tight otherwise. Some people also just don’t do anything at all. I have friends that saved tons, but spend nothing by doing nothing

It helps that Ive had great roommate experiences

Full time role with 3 weeks vacation and benefits or contract opportunity with 20k more in potential salary.

Need some suggestions on what to consider and any pitfalls that I should be aware of.

Thanks

Serious question - is there a reverse FIRE strategy? I like the idea of saving and retiring early, but the one hiccup I see (and sorry if this is grim) is if you die earlier than expected. I’d be worried that I would minimize lifestyle and fun for retirement at 50 but I’d die at 49. How about a way to work 9 months out of the year and retire/travel/relax for 3 months? This way you guaranteed your dreams/etc. are fulfilled

No promotion has been offered to me to upgrade my existing Venture card to a Venture X card.

Should I wait until that promotion is offered to me? Or would it be dumb to apply for a Venture X card separately and a) hold both cards or b) close out the original Venture card.

Per what I'm reading the interest rate is 9.62% if I buy through Oct 2022. It's a 30 year investment, but I can withdraw after 5 years without 3 month penalty.

Questions:
(1) Is the interest rate fixed or variable over the term of the bond?
(2) Assuming 9.62% is annual return but definitely want to confirm 🤣
(3) Do most people actually keep it in 30 years? I'm looking at 5 years for now and re-assess
