1)What did you guys major in college?
2) What major would have provided the most background/help in consulting if you had a chance to change your major or do you think the major is not as important? 3)If you were to choose Accounting vs Finance, which one would you go for in terms of coursework itself and relevancy in consulting?

I majored in economics and have found it helpful for consulting. If I could do it again though, I would probably have majored in CS and tried to do SWE instead

like

Major isn’t super important imo because anyone can learn how to case if they put in the work.

However, if you’re someone who needs academic backing to really feel like you have a hands-on grip as far as consulting-related subject matter (formulae on ROI, breakeven, profit and loss, market sizing etc) goes, I would think Economics is the way to go. Most entry-level econ classes will teach you how to make reasonable business assumptions + calculate profit and breakeven :)

1) Aeronautical Engineering
2) My major worked well for me as I had a very unique skillset in addition to the normal management consulting skillset.
3) I'd say finance is more useful than accounting in a lot of what I do when not focused on my core skillsets. Accounting is boring AF and accountants seem to be everywhere.

like

That helps!

Anthropology, and college majors are not important unless you want to do something technical.

Audio engineering :)

I majored in Management Information Systems and minored in Computer Science. I’ve found it extremely helpful for Data Analytics consulting - especially due to me being heavily involved on the technical side of my projects :)

1. Business Admin with focus on Finance and Accounting

2. Major isn’t important, having great soft skills is. Most of what you need to know will be learned on job.If you know how to organize work, communicate effectively through email or chat, build and deliver presentations, and use Microsoft applications, you will be well ahead of the curve as a new joiner.

3. I use Accounting knowledge more than Finance if that helps.

Personally I think finance is more beneficial, you’ll probably still have to take at least a couple accounting classes for it anyway but the additional finance classes would be better for you than the additional acct ones required for each major

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest

I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
