Hi, I have a toddler and have been working from home. Baby started day care recently and I started a new job. The job requires travel although I am trying to find local projects and am being open about my preference. I have started feeling like I'm asking for too much and that I might be coming across as more of a mom than a co-worker. I am now trying to consciously not talk about my kid. It's a very uncomfortable spot right now. Would love thoughts on how to navigate this.

Hi do they boot give citations or tow for street parking in midtown/downtown area? It’s the one where you pay at meter and put in license plate. Last few days I’ve been visiting my friend at a hotel in midtown and secured $2 parking per hour cause there are no grocery stores or free parking spots nearby. And been a bit risky like underestimated time. Seeing what repercussions would be. Parking city patrol would have to drive or walk by, pick my car to check, look for plate online etc

Is it bad to give less than 2 weeks notice before a last day? Our manual says "at least 2 weeks" but I booked a ticket to travel for a family event leaving on June 10th and my goal was to have another job by then so I could permanently move, too. In order for me to give 2 weeks I have to let them know by May 26th but if I don't hear back from a job by then...I'd either have to give less than 2 weeks notice or book a ticket to come back just to give 2 weeks and then would fly back.

2. My team is having an 2-day offsite meeting in another city and many folks outside of our team are all traveling in for it. Some are only attending for an hour. My exec told me yesterday I couldn’t attend (after weeks of asking him), citing that we couldn’t have excessive hours of OT (maybe 4 hrs). I do not feel valued as a team member.

Current apartment 2780/month: not moving = no brokers fee, brand new sparkly kitchen with new appliances, two parking spots, spacious bonus room, forced air AC, baseboard heating that costs $400+/month in the winter bc of bad insulation, kind of gross bathrooms with some tiles hard to clean/falling out of the walls, lots of small fixer-upper items like replacing curtain rods where the nails seem to be coming out from their holes, etc.
