Wtf is a job jar
Yep ... network with all the people in the office who ... aren't at a client site doing interesting, chargeable work.
In most offices, if you go into the office during the week, you're going to be sitting in the noisy open space with people from corporate functions (admin, finance, hr, etc) and just be mad at yourself for going in.
@A3 - GTFO. That advice is terrible. Network with real live human beings. Stay away from your TFS and demand reports. They are both out of touch and a hassle.
@D1 - job jar is short-term work for free (I.e. no code). Think of a consulting version of day labor workforce.
No worries just keep on trucking. Been there before, just be patient and continue to apply to roles, help with some BD if you find any and enjoy the bench time.
Also, myS should be a last resort!!!
Don't be afraid to job jar. West coast only staffs people who have job jarred with them before.
Stay strong, was in a similar position. Go to the office atleast twice a week, network with whoever there and scour over the myS excel sheet. Also if your TFS is local, talk to her in person, it'll push her to help you get a role
A2 lol lower your wood, i already set to go to the office and network with people, but looking position of myS is just another thing you can do
Reach out to practice leads and offer your help with BD or practice development. That will help you form more meaningful connections and increase the likelihood that they will want to staff you on their work when it sells.
If you started you especially don't have to worry. Just bug the shit out of your tfs and also try to expand your network, even if it's just someone who's been here a few months longer than you. I got my first project through a friend who knew a manager
