2019 grad in big law entertainment litigation, thinking about exit options. I don’t think I would like transactional work very much, but am nervous that if I stick in lit too long, my in-house options, particularly within entertainment and/or FAANG are going to be extremely slim. Any advice?

In-house options are always on the table, there’s no expiration date. Remember you have a lot of career ahead of you, so give yourself some grace on that front.

They key here is to know what makes you want to come to work everyday, even if it’s a 12 hour day. What culture do you thrive in? What type of mentor do you want? What clients do you want to work for? If you spend time digging into what you love, the next step is going to be much easier.

I have a quandary to share. My work exp has been tech heavy, starting as a software developer for 8 years; outgrew that. Then for the last 4 years, DevOps, specializing in the Cloud, IaC and GitOps. The tech parts (sans human) feel empty sometimes, and I want to try out transitioning into product. As DevOps, I have loved my share of helping internal customers (dev teams) as well as being an advisor. I love unsticking people. Is it possible to market that for job desc that asks for mgmt exp?

There have been a lot of posts in the law and big law blog about legal recruiter comp. It seems to range a lot (saw second-hand info from $60k to over a million). Also saw someone say the “average” recruiter makes more than a 5th year biglaw associate (which I think would mean $400k+). Can anyone provide ballpark numbers? Considering eventually moving to recruiting, but couldn’t leave to do it for $60k.
