How did you save so much?

like

Analyst 1 that is spot on! I am very fortunate to have had my college paid for by my parents and have been living with them since graduating in 2019. Apart from that, I’ve been saving as much as I can from each paycheck and spending as responsibly as possible.

If you want to be safe, you can keep 1-year worth of rent (assuming 15-25K, just more tangible away of saying emergency fund) and yeah invest the rest! By the rule of 72, you should double your money approximately every 10 years (72/7% return) so consider that as the cost of NOT investing.

Great advice - thank you!

This is extremely impressive, assuming you started from $0. Congratulations! What age did you start working full-time? Also, I can understand being worried, but keep in mind you’re young enough to take on some risk. You can dollar cost average your investments each month/pay period if you’re really risk averse.

Thank you! As mentioned above, I am fortunate to have had my college tuition paid for by my parents and have been living with them since graduation. I started working full time a year and a half ago and I agree that I can take on more risk - thank you for the advice!

Everything goes in the market. Your time horizon is super long so you can weather any volatility unlike older folks.

If you’re currently renting...have you thought about buying? Good investment, build equity and take advantage of low rates now.

Thank you for the reply! I am not currently renting (living with parents at home) and am not educated on how make good real estate investments - what kind of property would be best for a first rental property and would you suggest pooling money with peers to get a nicer place?

Question to the experienced investors out here - Retirment accounts aside, I aggressively invest in my individual brokerage account. Am I utilizing the magic of compounding interest even when I’m using a brokerage account (non-retirement)?

Gotcha thanks M1. It was scary initially to put more and more in the market but I just completely ignore the sell button and only focus on buying. I wish there were more FDIC insured ways of earning 2-3% interest but unfortunately there isn’t.

23 myself and I have $15k in savings and $100k invested across IRA, 401k, and brokerage. Depends on your risk appetite but I don’t need foresee any big expenses (house, grad school, car, etc.). I’m also invested in the same ETFs.

Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?

Serious q: I'm choosing between a two BI/Ops type roles, one in a FAANG in Dublin, one in a less-known corporate in London (where I'm currently based). I'm pretty sure I'm gonna take the FAANG role, but has anyone else struggled with this type of career vs. personal life trade-off, and how did you reason about it?

United lost my son's car seat on a 3 hr flight. It was registered as a checked luggage with the proper csrseat tag and everything. After following up with an agent after we landed, they said it stayed in EWR and they are working to get it shipped to me in the next day or so while I'm on vacation. Anyway to get points for the inconvenience, I'm Premier platinum if it matters. They did give me a free loaner carseat until mine arrives but it's kinda crappy tbh.

But if I join D, that would delay an year and I would apply in Fall 2022. What would you recommend from MBA and career sense? At this point, I'd be applying for an MBA at age 31/32.
