OP last year I made similar to you at 25 years old (not at PwC), with a bit higher base.

Paid around $2,500/month. Was very easy to pay this amount, saved quite a bit too.

In terms of what’s comfortable, with no roommates $2,00-2,500 will get you a good studio/1 bedroom with deflated covid prices.

I’d save as much as possible because I think buying/building equity is better than renting, but you should still get a rental that’s good enough for your well-being.

30% of your take home pay

$2,500 is probably a reasonable amount for your income. But personally, I’m the same age and only make a bit less, and would try to keep it to $1,500 or less with roommates if you’re down for the lifestyle. Frugality goes a long way at our age if you invest or save up for a down payment. FWIW I’m way below $1,500 at the moment.

Buy. You have enough for a down payment.

I would buy as well. You can get a decent place for 700K which you can get approved for with that income. Rent out the other room

At the age and income, I paid 2.5k a month for a studio. You can get a 1bdrm now at a discount and save reasonably while enjoying life

I’m currently at a medium sized tech startup. I was interviewing for a role that would be a bump in pay and title at a multinational public F50 company. At first, the hiring manager and head of legal were very complementary about my experience. Almost too much so. After a week of interviews with the team (softball-esq), I was informed that if I wanted to join, they would bring me on at a lower title. I’m not sure about comp yet. But if comp is still an increase + experience at a public..

Is it worth it or should I just try to make it work in NYC ?
