Since you’re brand new to the area and young, you should for sure live in hip areas. Based on your salaries, I’d start with South End, central square, beacon hill, Fenway, then back bay.
I appreciate all the input from everyone. I do have a car as we enjoy taking weekend trips.
Where is your office located? Look for somewhere around a train line near the office because that’ll be the easiest commute wise. Somerville, East Cambridge & cambridge area were my favorite places when I lived there as an adult because you can get a way bigger place for less money than being right in Boston (most of my couple friends ended up there and myself when I lived with my ex). Also most places over there have parking if you are bringing a car.
South end is also beautiful, but can be really pricey, way less square footage for your money and not good if you have a car. Depends on how much stuff you have I guess and where you will need to commute.
PLEASE don’t be tempted by the low cost of Allston/ Brighton, once the college students move in you’ll feel like you’re surrounded by them. Also if you have to commute into the city, the Brighton green line train is horrendous, so slow, all around terrible.
This is coming from someone who did not go to college in Boston and is in their mid-twenties. I have lived in Dorchester, Brighton, cambridge, Back Bay & Somerville (all areas of the city). I can give you a really good informed recommendation if you want to PM me more info about working location, if you have a car, budget, what your hobbies are, and what you’re interested in doing in the city.
What kind of vibe are you looking for? What do you like to do? Want to be closer to the beach or be able to get out to nature?

Allston / brighton
^ agreed with A1
Stay away, worst experience living in Brighton as an adult not college student
If you set your price range, it could help us provide recommendations. You can get a 1 or 2 BR for $2-3k depending on where in city you are. You’re pretty young and might like - Allston/Brighton as suggested above, southie, Davis, central, Porter
If you’re going to be flying a lot you might want to be in east Boston which is cheaper, has great views of Boston skyline, and proximity to airport
We’d love to spend somewhere between $2-2.5k. Thanks!
Brookline is also nice! Esp coolidge corner. It has quirky / charming vibes and from what I remember isn’t super pricey
Try Alewife area and be on the red line. It's easier to commute on the red line
