AITA? I’ve had 11 1-star rides with Uber…

It’s time for me to move on from my back office/CBS job at EY. I’ve been able to get through to recruiter and hiring manager screening round with FAANG employers and some tech companies but never beyond that. How can I differentiate myself when I’m probably also up against our client facing colleagues in consulting. I have about 12 years experience (7 at EY doing the same thing).

It's a little pointless to compare against other people. Only thing that matters is if you are on a financial pat to achieve your goals. There will always be someone richer than you.
I'm so impressed you are saving $1k + ... I just keep buying clothes and shoes...
Better off than me, and I'm 27
I'm 26 and my SO and I save $120k a year outside of 401k. No kids, both consultants, paid off our car and student loans already. Own a condo and will pay in the next 4 years.
Del4, how the hell r u guys saving 120k a year??? R u partners in the middle of nowhere??
And that's why you don't live in new york
Fantastic , I am 32 with 30k left in undergrad and about 30k in assets.
You're doin great OP!
You should pay of student loans at a higher rate than saving IMO. Depending on the interest, their rates could be higher than any annual return you get for your 401K
Im at abt 100k/year and save abt 1500-2000/month. I had a couple of large expenses the last 1.5 years for business school (admissions services, traveling, applications, etc etc) and some personal items which dipped into my savings. I can also do a better job with discretionary spending. I do live pretty comfortably though, but feel like I need to change things up to save enough for a major investment (business, real estate, etc.)
Way better off than me
What's your salary? / how much can you save per month? - I'm nyc and have struggled for the last 3 years (graduated 3 years ago). I've got 100k to my name (stocks, cash...), but was able to save 30k before graduating college from working part time since hs
Also 26 y/o^
I'm in the same boat. Save about 2-2.5k per month. I'd like to buy some real estate in the NYC area (potentially income property, but I intend to live there). Friends in real estate think the market is right and rates are so low so I agree.
That's a great point. Guess I'm just trying to get a benchmark to see if and how I can do better with my finances in Consulting
OP I think that's good!
Killing it. I'm 29, about 30 in assets and 48k in student loan debt. 1.5k/mo goes to paying off loans. 3 more years...
A1 you're basically my twin.
