27F - My parents set up a custodial account for me as a kid and we are in the process of transferring ownership (I feel very lucky that they were so forward-thinking!). It’s enough for a down payment on a property, but I do not see myself needing it in the next 1-2 years. Looking for suggestions - would you DCA into ETFs over the next 12 months or put it safely into an HYSA?

Background: No more debt / student loans, trying to plan for unknown future

If using for a house, HYSA. SOFI has the best rate right now. Consider putting into Ibonds as well

like

I like your thinking with ibonds - probably should’ve mentioned I already maxed out the $10K back in January! Also maxing out HSA, 401K and as much as I can to MBD Roth IRA

likehelpful

You could probably do some in some ultra short term bonds too but realistically won’t make you much more than HYSA.

like

HYSA the market is volatile and likely going down a bit more before coming back long term. You need that cash stable if you’re buying in 2-5 years. And honestly, you’re at a point in like when things can change pretty quick. You might find yourself taking a promotion that moves you across the country, or fall in love, or just want some stability.

like

Market is down quite a bit. I would DCA if I were you since sell low isn't a great option.

I would put a portion into USDC on Voyager (9% APY) and the remainder in an HYSA

Hi :-)

funny

What is it invested in now and what would the taxes be if invested in appreciated securities

like

Right now it’s invested in some Research Fund shares, so it is down ~10% but my company just told me that the brokerage it’s in is not permissible so I have to withdraw it anyways…

Is the money invested in securities now? (In which case doing something new could incur tax consequences) Or is it sitting in cash? (In which case my go-to move for money I need in one to two years is to put it in a cheap National Municipal bond ETF — tax-free income with relative safety vs. stocks, though somewhat sensitive to rising interest rates)

Oh I didn’t know that was possible!

I'm up for a pharma agency senior CW role in the Rx/HCP vertical. I have been freelancing for 11 years, so mostly contract rates between $50 and $80 p/h (lower end on W2, higher 1099). They want to know my 1099 rate and salary requirements if full-time employee. Would $75 hourly and $110K be within range? They are in Philadelphia. I have been working in the Chicago, San Fran, and NYC markets mostly.

Does anyone stress about student loans? I have $176k in loans and as January gets closer, the panic attacks have gotten worser. I am in-house at a Real Estate company (making $90k), which is terrible bc they are going under due to the market. I am working to transition to big law for pay, job security and more technical skills. I am a 2019 grad and it just seems so hard to break into big law.

I just need advice on what to do. My mind is scattered and stressed! Thank you in advance!
