28 years old and just officially found out I’ve crossed into six figures. I’m in a pretty low cost of living area too, and my wife makes six figures as well, so I’m just feeling very good and optimistic about the future!

EY4 double six as in multiple six figures income I.e two hunnit

Congrats! Assuming this is 6 figure salary, not net worth? Either is still a worthy achievement.

Next thing to focus on is growing your savings / investment. I know I waited too long to take retirement and savings seriously, and wish I would have started earlier. If you’re in a LCOL area, you should have more flexibility to put more money away for the future.

whatcha gonna do with your newfound profits?

This is exciting and congrats! I got across the line in the last few weeks too!

I found ‘found out’ quite passive, have you just been letting life happen and six figures come your way. you have total control when and how your income comes to you. You can also negotiate if market relevant.

I say this as someone who was excited about 60K then excited by $72 then offended by anything under $110. I nailed $140k package from 72. You can too, just grab life by the balls!

Well done OP. In the last 12 months, my old manager put me on a coaching plan. Those always lead to PIPs. Went to a new job, made 30k more and now moving to a new opportunity earning another 30k. Things happen for a reason!!

I went to art school as well. I had to move from graphic design to product design (UX/UI) to accelerate to over $100K.

I started off 23/24 at 70k in nyc
Was excited with 83 when I got “tier 1” my first year
25-26 was at 95 (static bc of the pandemic)
I switched groups and jumped to 160 at 27
And now am making 231 at 28

It’s crazy how fast salary change can impact your perspective. I think trying to avoid lifstyle creep has been the hardest in the last year and a half.

But as you pointed out OP it’s definitely a good time to be optimistic even with a recession because we both have so much time left !

Hi fishes,
I'm 22 and planning to take a life insurance. I'm comparing all policies and max life seems attractive as it has good claim settlement ratio and less premiums. But there is no office near our area. My worry is that if there is a need to claim in future, it can be done all online by my nominee? Is it recommended to take policy online in any platform(like policybazaar)?
Other options I'm considering are SBI life, HDFC life which offices are available in my locality.

Any disadvantages to buying VTI (manually) vs. VTSAX (automatically)? Apart from convenience/removing emotional decisions. Fidelity charge $75 to buy any amount of VTSAX. Seems insane fee when you can just buy VTI for free. Am I missing something here?

How is everyone finding the year-end craziness to close deals this year?

Does it still make sense to purchase rental properties in HCOL markets like LA? I was passively looking before the pandemic, but it seems like things have gotten pretty insane. Lot of properties just won’t cash flow.

Hey friends. My wife and I are looking to start investing in the market outside of our 401ks, hsa etc. We opened a Charles Schwab brokerage account and planning to transfer 2-3k/mo. We’re in our late 20s/early 30 and likely won’t need to touch the money for 10+ years. What should be our investment strategy? How should we allocate to what funds? Thinking of splitting evenly across large, mid, small caps, and growth, value funds using DCA.

For homes that need major updates, should there be an added discount in the offer since it will take time and effort to fix up or am I not being realistic ? Ex homes in the area that don’t need to be fixed are 500k, the home that needs fixing needs 100k worth of fixes. So would offering lower than 400k makes sense?
