Counting top line, not net, revenue from my side gigs, I'm looking at pulling in around $260k this year and I'm a year older. Next year I'm projecting closer to $500k in top line revenue across the board, though net revenue is substantially lower.
Last year I was pulling in nearly $100k less than this year and was quite happy with my income then in a HCOL area.
Comparison is the thief of joy!

Pretty bad, but you are right that other people out earn you by a lot at a similar age.
E.g. PE kids who did IB straight out or college at 21/22 are easily surpassing that at age 27/28. Tech people make more than that very early on as well.
God another peasant salary- I’d rethink your career choices at this point but it may be too late.

VP1 I’ve heard 350-400 for a first year Principal (consulting) and $500+ after a couple years, for what it’s worth. I think some of the more senior ones like GCSPs, practice leads, or geography/sector leads clear $1M fairly easily.

“Is ~5x the average household income in the US less than halfway through my career okay? “ 🤡
Dude - you’re doing great. Here’s a ruler 📏 you win this measuring contest....
I really enjoy the app but these posts do annoy me here is a link that will bring people back to reality.

We are all so blessed let’s start to be more grateful and stop comparing all the time.

This post can't be serious...
It’s funny I earn 290k at 37 too. Combined with my spouse we are 400+. Any dollar above is nearly 50 percent taxed. It is worth the thought . I am always grateful for good life and target to retire at 50 at 5M
US avg is much less than that... I say u r good...
I am on target to make more than that at 27 (exited D for a tech unicorn). So yeah, you could have done a lot better.
What start up? Genuine question as I’m not familiar with tech unicorns currently

You are never going to make it in life. Your cousin John is a doctor and making twice as much with a much hotter gf.
This seems low. As a director I was making 285k base plus 10-20% bonus. I left to take a position for 400k+
Stop comparing yourself to other people my god. Is it enough for you?
I think as a partner, you should be making more. Maybe you are getting paid enough based on the value you bring to the table.
If OP is a new-ish principal at Deloitte GPS, $290k sounds pretty accurate. Likewise, if they're a principal at BAH, $290k sounds pretty good.
If they're commercial, $290k does sound low.
That’s plenty of money unless you live in SF or NYC. Now just go enjoy your life. Find what makes you feel fulfilled and do more of that.
It's plenty of money in NYC. Come on.
It’s peanuts. You would never be able to own a home like this in your lifetime.

So you’re like a CCO in Chicago, that’s similar pay. It’s a lot of money, especially by 37, and can get a lot more.

It’s bad that you have to work, why couldn’t you just be born rich? Try better in your next lifetime. JK, are you in GPS? Don’t let people get to you, they are not comparing apples to apples. Commercial is always going to be more pay, GPS less
