Why is it too late for your MBA? I have a sister and a friend who started their MBA at 31.

EY2 why is it worth it here in public accounting? They do not recognize the MBA with any sort of compensation for having it. In my opinion the masters in accounting/or the 5 year MBA programs geared towards accounting students is a hoax. Can you honestly say you've seen a reward from it, aside from your $700+ monthly loan payment. Though I do know when you go into governmental work they generally will compensate you for having a masters.

Depends on the school for the MBA - if it isn't too 25 don't bother unless it is a piece of a transition story

I'm 24 and have one already. Used it to get to 150. Worth it so far

Thats for the advice! Looks like MBA is a popular choice and switching career directly or after moving to industry is not very common. Why i think it might be too late for me is after 7+ years of experience, 1year GMAT/applying to schools and 2 more years in school it might be too late for me to start from scratch (not sure how much leverage I'll get from my current experience) What does everyone think of a part time MBA (3years) from good school like Berkeley vs full time? This way i can still keep gaining work experience potentially in a different line of work and opportunity cost will be less! I think the course content and degree is same..thoughts?

@EY2, 150k at EY at the age of 24 😳 Please share which school, course you took and which team you work for? Also to EY's point, did MBA made such huge difference in landing this role? How are other non MBA members of your team doing in comparison? TIA

EY2 means he got his MBA to get 150 hours to sit for the CPA.

150 credits**. My bad

Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
