If it’s not M7 don’t waste your money
C3 Are Facebook, Google, Microsoft security companies? Lol.
Was that a joke? If not, I don’t understand the purpose of the question D1
People don't like security because it's boring. Are any of the most desirable jobs and companies known for security? It's a necessity. You're preventing things from happening. Not making things happen.
Agree with C1. Try to grow in the firm. Also get MBA but leverage security as a focus or future role. Firms need strong business and management skills with a tech background more than tech workers specializing in one aspect of security.
Do part time mba or ms. No debt, income, and access to recruiting
Go for it if you really want it and are set with your GMAT. It will workout
Probably stuck in security tbh
I’d rec identifying what you wanna do and get a targeted degree in that area: ie ops = ind eng
This debt is GD crippling
I would first use all possible resources within the firm to get into something else. Don’t forget these large companies we work for have tons of openings in different areas every day. It might cause a step back for a year or two but when you equate that to an MBA could work out better or the same. Just use your current expertise to sell yourself in another light. 3 years in isn’t that much. If you’re doing well talk to your career coach first and go from there
Go part-time to reduce the impact of debt
C2, it will have to be part-time/weekend MBA program
Why pigeon hole to only M7 if you are doing part time/weekend? If it’s only for the prestige of the name, not worth the debt.
Other top 25 programs may throw some decent money to go full time and would allow you to focus on getting to where you really want to go.
Why don’t you like security?
D1 True but you’re making generalizations. Also not everyone wants to work for Facebook, google, or Microsoft
Thank you everyone. My background wasn’t technical to begin with..it was financial. I feel like I’m already at a bit of a disadvantage even if I try and get more security CERTS. I want to be able to work at a management level but not just focusing on security alone. Hence thinking about grad school from M7
