Get tested for Cholestasis. I’m still waiting for my reports. Meanwhile, aloe vera gel has been very helpful.
Agree about getting tested for cholestasis. I got it and so was induced early - had healthy twins but was glad I called my doctor when I got the itchy hands and feet symptoms!
Yes get tested for cholestasis, although typically it’s more of an indication that you have it IF you’re specifically itchy in the palms of your hands and soles of your feet. I also had a lot of itchiness in general and used OTC Sarna lotion to keep it under control. Sometimes I would take Benedryl at night or Unisom to help me sleep through the itchiness.
Oh no....do you have a rash or is it just itchy? I ask because I had a terrible puppp rash. If it’s a rash i can give some tips.
Yeah of the otc creams benedryl was the best but that’s not saying a lot. I kept a cooler next to my bed and would put ice packs on and took 6 cold showers a day with the soap which helped temporarily. My rash was my entire stomach, legs, and arms which is why they gave me the two prescriptions and told me to take zertec daily. When I first called about it they said “just take benedryl” till they saw how bad it was and realized It wasn’t sustainable for me to live like that.

Almond oil with a drop of tea tree or neem oil might help. It's a general recommendation for skin problems and not pregnancy specific though.
This happened to me as well, right around the 34 week mark. My doctor first got my bile acids checked for possible cholestasis, which is good to get tested for if you haven’t already. Test came back clear, however, so it wasn’t a liver condition but a dermatological one. My OB prescribed OTC hydrocortisone creams, which provided some temporary relief. I found CeraVe most helpful among the different brands I tried (though the AI is pramoxin hydrochloride, and not hydrocortisone). I went to a dermatologist post delivery, and got prescribed a stronger cream (Triamcinolone 1% cream). The itching went away after about 4 weeks postpartum, but left me with really ugly scars all over my breasts and stomach - hoping they fade soon!
I know :( and as if it wasn’t already difficult enough to sleep with a gigantic belly and lower back pain and then work 14-16 hour days! My survival strategy was to carve out time for 1 hr naps in the day and let my team know I will be napping then so they know not to call me. Luckily I had the most supportive team ever to make this work

Had something similar. Highly recommend bleach baths (sounds much scarier than it is - it’s really a tiny amount of bleach in a big tub of water). Sometimes took Benadryl, especially before bed because I would itch overnight while I was asleep and ended up getting terrible night’s sleep.
