I am on notice period with Tata Consultancy with 2 months remaining with an offer in hand where the joining date is just after notice period ends. Now, I got early release from current company and thus, I saved 2 months. But I want to use these 2 months for travelling, upskilling and looking for better offers instead of contacting the new company for early joining. So, if I join the new company after 2 months will this be considered as a 'gap' in my profile in the future and will it be harmful?

Congratulations on the pregnancy! As a male, I can’t offer any advice other than to say how much it saddens me that in this day and age your concern is [unfortunately] still a valid, and very real one. Especially in the US and UK. Wishing you luck though. ☘️
Interesting situation, I don’t know the right thing to do. Seems unfair to you not to get the job if you are the best candidate. Seems unfair to them to have you start by going on parental leave. In person interview would of course have given them info on your condition without having a word said.
True, but like you said then it’s unfair/discriminatory to me if they use seeing my pregnancy as a determining factor to hire me or not. I was glad for the zoom call to at least make a first impression based solely on my professional qualifications.
Best thing here is to be transparent. Send an email with similar sentiment as you wrote here. You really want the job but want to be fair to their needs as well. Hopefully, they surprise you!

Ask / search in the Women in Advertising bowl. There’s a lot of support and advice in there for this kind of thing.

My wife is 34 weeks pregnant! Here’s the advice I’d give her: continue with the process. Then ask about a later start date.

Thank you! I think that’s the right way of thinking about it, make them decide they want you, then make that a point of negotiation. After all, people negotiate flexible start dates all the time. Worst case scenario, they aren’t flexible, and the job wouldn’t have worked out for you anyway.
Oh, and congrats!
