Hahahah I am an associate who makes 85k and have one. Go for it. I mean I am saving so much gas money with all that driving I do (okay that is how I justified it to myself)
Op was talking about the new model s plaid.
Every single car-enthusiast friend I have that has bought a Tesla cannot wait to get rid of it…
Great answer P2! Now I understand.

Why would that be a bad decision
I’m thinking the 130k one with the sub 2 0-60. It’s like 8 months of after-tax income.

Tesla’s are expensive commuter cars. They are cool and perf is good. You can also get a Benz or other luxury brands and drive across the country. Gas $$ is not going to make up for the premium on an EV. They’re cool, fast, pretty good quality, but it’s a commuter car due to range.
@Mck1 300 mile/4-5 hr for one way is still a lot! Or else you can just charge in middle
Buy it. I have a Tesla and even after a year of owning it, the current resale value is slightly below a new Tesla. With Tesla wait times for new cars, I’m pretty certain I could get a good bargain if I were to sell mine.
This isn’t about how much you make. This is a financial decision. No gas, no maintenance, no oil etc, and resale value strong. all notwithstanding the fact that the car drives like a breeze and I absolutely love it every single minute I’m in the car.
Buy it.
EY3 - Porsche 911 (mines 7 years old and I’m being offered $5k more to trade in than when I bought it), Ford Transit (I bought one to convert in 2018, and now, the 2018s listed out there are $15k more than when I bought it), Toyota FJs, almost any Jeep, Toyota 4Runner, Nissan GT. Your Tesla doesn’t even make the list of 15 cars that hold value (google it) - it’s just a crazy market right now. When things go back to normal, nobody in their right mind will buy one of those 2nd hand…
Oof, I'm hoping to get a new job soon at $150k and finally be comfortable getting a model Y...
I wouldn’t buy a car that’s 1/3 of my annual salary, but that’s me
Syncsort out here thinking everyone's buying new cars lol
Just pay for it in cash with that salary

I can’t imagine buying a tesla that wasn’t new.
Does the hardware/software age well on those things? I can’t imagine even buying a used, three year old phone.
Every other car does not have this! It’s absolutely nuts!
Not even sure why you would ask a question like this unless you really wanted to flex today

Why did you write this
My M3 has brought me great joy driving it for the last 3 years. If you do not have any debt and can pay cash for it then go for it.
Wow the Tesla cult is definitely strong. There is so much competition coming out i.e. Mercedes ESQ, Cadillac Lyriq, Audi, Volvo, GM, Ford, Lucid, Fisker, etc.
We’re all gonna fall into the line of capitalism and buy EV’s 5 to 7 years just as we do with ICE cars. Beyond that repairs get costly.
We’re all just cogs in the wheel, with the expectation of game changers who will change the world.
Uh huh. “Tesla-killers” all on the way, huh? How does Elon sleep at night? Maybe because he’s seen the track record of Tesla killers to date.

So much tesla hate from people who don’t own one.
Go for it bruv!
