35+4 and almost certain I have the flu - cough, aches, low grade fever, headache, very sore throat from coughing. I’m seeing the doctor today, but how have you all coped if you’ve been here? This is miserable - Delsym only works so well, I had wanted to avoid Tylenol but need it for fever, and I have too many big meetings to not dial in today. 🤒🥱

I had a sinus infection that I had to use Tylenol for fever as well. I’d just try and use as little as possible - hopefully one dose helps and you don’t need more.

As for the call - I’d be doing all I could to move those things and be on as little as possible. Important you are taking care of you right now! You’re also about where I ended up transitioning most of my responsibilities- and then I ended up out at about 37 weeks due to carpal tunnel

Same, I already transferred most of work responsibilities to someone at this point. And now I’m really happy I did.

Take the day off! You and baby will be fine, but you 1000% need to take care of yourself. At this point in time you could in theory go in labor at any point and your team/client needs to be ready for you to go MIA at a moments notice. It’s a good learning opportunity for all!

I had the flu at 34 weeks (Thanksgiving week for me)... I'd add some holistic things like elderberry (every 2-4 hours) and echinacea to help cut the duration - proven to work better than tamiflu. The worst of it for me was not sleeping from the cough and congestion... most of the symptoms abated after less than 48 hours except those... and the congestion mostly went away after about 5 days (now just the pregnancy congestion is back). Fair warning... I still have a cough. It seems like that sticks around a lot longer than all the other symptoms.
I didnt take anything, other than loads of tea with honey, bone broth, and cough drops to help with the tickle. My fever stayed low grade (below 101) and only lasted one night, so I never needed the Tylenol.
Also, I'd say... no meeting is more important than your health or baby's. Reschedule or ask for coverage to get healthy before baby gets here.

Just had the flu at 32 weeks. I was miserable but took Tylenol and stayed in bed. Take sick leave. You are sick and it will get better faster if you rest.

like

Thanks guys. It’s been so hard to decline new BD opptys while I know I could go out now (or not for another 5 weeks!), but this is a good reminder to just let it go

like

Pretty sure you can take Tamiflu - might make you feel better. Ask your OB and they’ll prob write you a script.

Ugh I was just there last week but I had covid. It was horrible. I’m so sorry you’re going through all that.

My doctor did tell me that sometimes you get flu like symptoms before you go into labor but I’m not sure if a fever is part of that.

I hope you feel better!

I didn’t take anything while I was sick because I was so afraid that the chemicals in any medication would impact the baby’s growth BUT I did drink lots of warm lemon water with honey and it helped me feel better! I also used eucalyptus shower steamers to help with my breathing/ cough and tried to eat plenty of fresh, raw veggies and fruits. I slept for about 3 days almost straight and kind of woke up better I guess lol I hope that you call off work and feel better!
