Aetna PPO open access. I only paid maybe $300 out of pocket during my pregnancy. You just hit the deductible and everything is 100% paid for. It’s legit the best......but also the most expensive
Super helpful thanks!
It IS daunting—not sure, but good luck. Have short term disability if an option.
Don’t have the answer to the question OP, but have you started trying already? Try for a few months and see how you go, you might not need the fertility help after all, don’t assume you will just because you’re 36 - there are so many other factors. Also a general check-up would be good + start prenatal vitamins if you haven’t already.
Thanks. Have just started trying but open enrollment ends in 2 weeks 😀
I understand that fertility help may not be needed, but in general trying to understand what kind of plan offers the best maternity and neo natal coverage. I’m currently on an HDHP (mainly attracted by the benefits of HSA) and am fine if we hit the max deductible (it still works out for us financially to pay the high deductible). However I wanted to know if there’s a difference in coverage between what’s offered by a PPO vs HDHP. Are there types of things that are not eligible expenses under an HDHP?
I used the HDHP with HSA, monthly premiums are very low and the deductible is not too bad. $2800 individual. If u have saved this amount in HSA continue with it. Comparing with a friend who had Aetna the benefits and coverage is the same. HDHP covers everything as Aetna, you only pay for 2-3 ultrasounds that goes against your deductible. Most other pre-natal visits are covered even if deductible is not met. With the delivery you will max out anyways and only pay 10% after that. Its a great plan if u had it for sometime I absolutely loved it
Super helpful. Thanks. I’ve been on an HDHP for a year now and don’t want to change it. Going to max out hsa contribution this year though.
I’m generally healthy but recognize that I might need some fertility help given my age. Are there plans that offer better fertility support? Sorry if my questions sound ignorant. I’ve been trying to do some research online but it’s extremely confusing. I’m not from the US, and while I’ve been here for years have never really had to deal with the healthcare system and it is daunting! TIA!
