4 months in at work. Have $12k in savings account that won’t be touched except for emergencies, and a couple K in checking for current expenses. 401k contributions are maxed. How should I be allocating future paychecks- everything invested in brokerage account?

Check out ROTH IRA, if you have kids then 529 plan. If you still have spare cash then find a reputable place that will invest for you -typically charge 1-2% fee on returns, which I believe is fine if you get 7-8% annual return and don’t have to spend time planning where to invest

Yea I wasn’t planning on it. I’ve been looking at no / low fee index funds and etfs

Yup. Money machine go brrrrrrrr

Your employer’s 401k plan service provider has (free) people for this. But also max out HSA contributions when open enrollment starts. Don’t spent it, save it.

HSA, Roth IRA, ESPP, and Mega Backdoor Roth. Whichever of these you have access to. Mega Backdoor Roth = contribute to an after tax 401k account if your employer offers it. Once you have some money, rollover your after-tax 401k funds out and into your Roth IRA. This is a way of being able to store away more in your Roth IRA than the yearly limit. Or brokerage is fine too, you just won't gain the tax benefits, but your funds will be more liquid while you're working.

Indexed Universal Life Insurance (IUL) - Anyone have one of these ? Never heard of this until the other day when a financial planner mentioned it. He said it’s a better vehicle than 401K. I took what he said with a grain of salt because he was trying to acquire customers, but I haven’t heard anyone talk about it here. At a quick glance it seems pretty solid. Anyone have experience ? Pros/Cons ? Something to add on including the standard 401K, Roth, HSA, etc ?

How do I start a brokerage account at Fidelity (just using that since my kids 529 and my 401k are there)? Do I need to call them? I just don’t want stuff sitting in my checking account and my student loans are now paid off so I will end up netting more every month…any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Side note - I won’t be day trading or anything…I just want to give it to a brokerage firm and let them do their thing.
