I think it may differ firm to firm. Hearing mixed things, but would be nice to cash out
You need to call the number in the plan document and they will be able to give you all the information you need.
Y'all get a pension instead of a 401k?
We get both
I don’t think you are vested until 5 years.
I am. It depends on when we started - I started post 2008 so our vesting period is 3 years
Only way I’ve heard to cash out on your pension is going to work for a client or an affiliate. It would trip independence if you had any ties back to the firm, so they would have to pay you out
That is incorrect. I cashed out my pension (DBO) when I left. It was a nice check. 😇
I asked before and was told that we’re not allowed to cash out/ get a lump sum until age 60.
EY had a DBO and a DC (cash value) while I was there. I only got paid the DBO. With that said, no one told me I could get it. I had to go find it hiding buried in the benefit website after I terminated. So people may interpret not being told with unable to.
Partner pensions are completely different. I have only heard of those cashing out in the case of active independence violations. I.e. becoming a board member of a client after retirement.
I think you have an option to leave it KPMG, roll to an IRA or cash it out. If you cash it, subject to 10% penalty and the whole amount becomes taxable. Again, this is what I heard from other people.
