Sorry - to keep things in perspective and all relative, I'm a "senior" senior manager and live in a high cost area. Also I spent that much to show appreciation for what she does for our family as we had our second child this year. This isn't the norm and there's more to life than material things. I simply wanted to make her happy.

I'm single but have a big family...I average $50-100 per person.
Spent $750 on building staff tips. Family doesn't do gifts and I don't have many friends so I buy myself nice things.
I legit spent $0 this year on gifts this year. Have to get a gift card tomorrow but that's it.
