Yesterday, the stock market imploded like an already peeved person who was told to “calm down.” The Dow posted its biggest one-day drop since 2020, and just eight companies in the S&P 500 closed higher. The dramatic sell-off was sparked by Target’s earnings, which showed that soaring costs are putting the squeeze on margins (it didn’t help that Walmart said the same thing the day before). Target’s stock suffered its worst drop since 1987.

Should I enroll in 401k if I don’t know if I’ll be in the states long term / if I’ll get the lottery? Currently on OPT.

What’s your recommendation if my new 401k does not accept pension rollover? I think the only 2 roll over options left are traditional/Roth IRA, right? If I first roll over the pension to traditional IRA, and then immediately roll over the traditional IRA to my new 401k, will I still trigger the pro rata rule when I do backdoor Roth in the future? Company A: good benefits (401k matching, pto etc)and work life balance. Salary $110k
Company B: low 401k matching, decent pto, salary 145k

My dr is recommending me for few days of leave before my induce date . As per policy it says firm allows up to 2 weeks ante-natal & wont reduce maternity leave. Is this true ? HR isn’t aware.

So we sometimes make friends at work.. but if this friend insists on asking about how much you get paid, how do you feel about it? Some friends you don’t feel like telling them how much you make (if you make more, you make the other feel bad, if you make less you feel bad). And one data point doesn’t mean anything. Honestly I probably should let him/her post the question in the company bowl.. Do you ask your friends about their salary (esp if working at the same company)?
