This is like saying lunch or dinner, which is better ? They’re not mutually exclusive. Do both.

Both. 401(k) up to employer match, then IRA, then back to 401(k).

like

Do both. If you don't have the funds, 401k up to the max, and then IRA, then back to 401k.

Both are tax advantageous.

But it's not clear if your question is about 401k vs. IRA or Roth vs. traditional. Many 401ks have both pre-tax/traditional and post-tax/Roth options. Those options are also there for IRA.

Better for what?

They are both retirement accounts and a great for that purpose. What are the details of the 401k plan? Is there a match?

I started working in a agency two months ago, and I have two very big projects running simultaneously.

My Creative Director left for paternity leave, and left me with all the work, facing the client, going to shootings, editing. I've been working 15 days straight, no weekends. The agency hasn't given me any back up/someone I can team up with to do the job.

Is this normal? I'm used to have a partner, a copywriter or another creative working alongside. Keep in mind that I'm mid-level.

Hi All! Just looking for some guidance.

I took a loan against my 401k and the repayment is drawn from my paycheck. Included in that payment is 6% interest.

I have enough money to repay the remaining balance of the loan. The question is: should I repay it now or just continue with the payment and pay off if I leave the company?

The money would go into savings / investments.

Thank you!

What are some stocks you guys would invest in the current stock market if you had $4K in cash now?

like

Curious about your thoughts on this one. I get why people maximize their 401(k)s, IRAs, etc for retirement. But what if your retirement investments get significantly reduced due to a stock market crash, or a banking/financial institution system failure (especially as people get close to their retirement age)? I mean with all the changes in the world, who is to say that these institutions are to be trusted? At the end of the day, your investments, paychecks, etc are just a number on a screen.
