Lockpicking is all the rage these days, but honestly, most alarm systems aren't wired to glass, just smash it in with a crowbar and don't linger.

Sounding like a conspirator

I did this. But I was 5 year and first party property coverage. Subscribed to the go in house webpage and trolled the weekly email updates with newest jobs. Focused on litigation ones then just applied and highlighted my lit experience even if it wasn’t in the specific industry like oil and gas or manufacturing.

Prior to CGL I was also doing first party property. How are you liking in house?

I had 4 years of first party property coverage experience when I went in house. I’m in a commercial counsel role now. What helped was highlighting my experience interpreting contracts.

I would describe it as almost immeasurably better.

Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to negotiate a higher salary when getting promoted internally? Currently been at the company for about a year, and getting promoted. I’m aware what someone is making at the level I’m getting promoted to, and they were also internally promoted a few months ago. Is it fair to say that I know what they make and I expect to make the same? Even though they may have more years of experience?

How much should I charge a friend to watch 4 dogs at their home over Christmas weekend (2 nights)? The dogs don't have any special needs or medications. I've dog sat for other people in the past but always for free. I also have had dogs of my own for most of my life. I want to start charging people for my services but also want to be reasonable since this is a friend and don't plan to charge a holiday fee. We live in St. Louis. Would $40 per day/night be reasonable?

Who wants to meet up for drinks next week (Thursday or on the weekend)?

Let’s plan it out and make it happen: long overdue that we have a bowl meetup!

Is anyone here friends with their fellow colleagues? I started a remote job several months ago and no one goes into the office. We see each other over zoom and have the occasional group meeting in person. I’d like to get to know these people better and grabbing lunch or a coffee is doable but I’m wondering what has worked for others in a remote world?

Transitioning from junior in house at a very small company where I only did small easy contract review to a large multinational corporation in a few weeks, and have those weeks off. Does anyone have any book recommendations I can read until then that actually offer good insight and helpful tips?!

I didn’t learn that much on the business side and I love reading, so seems like a good idea to relax while also preparing a bit.

My experience is general commercial litigation with an employment emphasis, as well as general business advising. I’m interested in moving in-house but don’t want to relocate (large regional city in southeast US), so my options are somewhat limited and I’m afraid I’ve missed my age/experience-window to do so. The mods are thinking of starting a weekly series where we breakdown the compensation / salary of an in-house counsel offer. It will include variables like location, YOE, alma mater tier, company sector, and company size.
