Congrats! 🥳
Take prenatal vitamins if you’re not already (including DHA)
Make an appointment with your ObGYN
Get your dating scan and other tests
Keep your fingers crossed until week 12
Try not to stress 😊
You’ve got 8 months to do a load of stuff !
I would say once you’re past the 12 week mark start thinking about :
Buying maternity clothes
Get advice from a few recent (trusted friends) parents
Consider childcare options (may need to sign up for day cares in advance)
Consider which classes you want to take (prenatal, postnatal care, birthing)
Buy all the stuff you might need for the baby (all the moms in my office put together a great list, happy to share with you!)
Think about a birthing plan - drugs/no drugs, natural/c-section, who you want in the room
Consider the help you might want to hire like a widwife/doula, night nurses in the initial few weeks period
I’m 36 weeks and a FTM! That’s all I can think of now ... probably other stuff I don’t know about
Congrats!
Above poster covered a lot. In addition, would recommend picking up a book at the library or bookstore to have as easy reference or you'll spend your entire pregnancy Googling stuff non stop. I thought Expecting Better by Emily Oster was super helpful, though she of course has her own biases.
Prepare yourself for tons of unsolicited advice, it will continue after baby arrives.
Make a list of stuff to pick up on Black Friday / post holiday sales, especially for big ticket items.
Get your house in order (like clear out stuff, take care of any bigger tasks). We ended up moving to a bigger place, and from a rented place to one we bought. Also, while I don't recommend moving while 8 months pregnant, it was definitely better to do it BEFORE the baby arrived.
Thanks so much! I bought that book and it’s already super helpful. I don’t feel too bad about that half champagne glass I had on Monday 😊😊
