How senior are you? If you're a mid-level or senior associate, I'm sure this is something you can discuss with a partner. If you're a counsel or partner, I think it's on you. And if you're a junior, you probably don't have tons of space to complain.
I disagree -- even at the associate level, big law is very "choose your own adventure." Load up on local matters, and then you won't have room for the ones that take you away from your life for a bit.
If you’re even a little bit more senior, start introducing juniors to the more travel intensive files and bridge them in to the client as a “cost saving” measure. Also a lot of courts are doing videoconference motions and calls now - position yourself to do more teleworking and tell client it saves $$$
