Eh, I don't think there's a lot of evidence for that. There are tons of partners who were straight throughs.
It totally depends. Someone who goes from summa at H/Y/P to H/Y/S is probably more hardcore than someone who did Peace Corps. Former I-bankers, consultants, and military folks are a different story.
Just going to quibble with one part of this. I don’t think the 25 year old who snagged a humanities degree at H/Y/P and then went to a law school that gives out happy face stickers instead of grades is necessarily more hardcore than the person who lived in a Ugandan village digging wells and coordinating with NGOs for two years.
55 yo straight through here, with 23 years as a V25 partner. Pretty worn down but don’t think a few years off between college and law school would have made any difference. Definitely wasn’t burned out as an associate or young partner despite 2500 hour years year after year.
Good to hear. I definitely have a couple of good mentors. I’m on the transactional side, in our real estate group.
Myth. Straight through who made NEP by 34. I get burned out from time to time but no more than my peers.
