6 figure salary language: I know we are still in a world where saying 6 figure salary means something, but people also said 6 figure salary decades ago when it was more than double its value today, and may have even used the terminology when it was worth many times its value today (I don’t have the full history on when it first became popular terminology.). Do we see the terminology “6 figure salary,” used in esteemed terms, going away any time soon?

I think 9 percent of Americans make 100,000 or more a year, so yes you are still doing quite well if making this amount.

I like to bring up the accepted number for being rich is twice your current income. So the analysts here making 75 will say managers/seniors at 150 are rich, and managers will say directors are rich. Just an endless cycle of constantly chasing your tail. No one ever stops just to say “I’m doing okay for right now”

Gonna have to disagree with you. It’s still meaningful, and people do use the terminology often for good reason. It’s also impressive to regular type people.

The people who make a lot of money call it “two bucks” or “half a buck” (buck = $1M USD).

I broke six figures at the age of 23 in SF. It’s nothing. Everything’s relative but who cares if you make six figures if you can’t even afford a shitty little house

200k is the new 100k IMO!

Reaction Icon Like

From my knowingly biased perspective, now that I make over 100, I feel that. Before I made 100, 100k was the new 100k though to me if I’m being honest

Can someone explain the difference between FB’s Partner Solutions Manager and the Strategic Partner Manager? From an initial recruiter call, it seems the SPM provides the consultative product recs while the PSM onboards the client onto that product and tracks performance to provide actionable recs as needed. Anyone know career growth and salary for these two? I don’t want a sales heavy/only lateral growth role like their client solutions manager roles so these seem like good compromises?

I know a lot of people are upset today with comp coming out and I don’t want to be insensitive but I finally crossed the 6-figure line! I know a lot of people will laugh at this goal but I wanted to make 6-figures before 30 (I am 29). As a 2nd generation American, I wanted this goal for all the sacrifices my parents made to leave their homes and families to give me the opportunity that the US provides!

This week's tech mention is Piktochart. I came across these guys yesterday and I am stoked about it. If you look they help you build professional infographics. I like to use infographics as a leave-behind from my sales presentation. The flyers help my customers sell the solution up to management. The problem I have is I am not artistic. This service looks like it will allow me to take my ideas and put them in a format worth sharing. Go give them a look.
