Just do it. You can help clients even if it’s the first time you’re dealing with an issue. There’s always a first case in every area. There’s nothing unethical about this. That’s why they don’t teach the law in law school but rather teach you how to think about issues.

I did. Ultimately, I felt like she didn’t have a meritorious claim anyway so I did not take the case. However, I did refer her to an attorney who specialized in the area in case I missed something.

When I started a project at an independent agency, I was told the work load would be around 15 hours, or that was the max. The client loved what I gave them and didn't have any feedback, so my work is pretty much done but I think it took me more like 10 hours. Should I still charge for 15?

What's the worst attempt you've seen to motivate staff? My previous firm brought in a massage therapist to the office for an afternoon during busy season. Then they told the auditors (who were all out at client sites) that they needed to drive into the downtown office, pay for parking, and that none of this time would be billable, so we'd need to work late
