6 months in, so small sample size but seniors really do give worse snapshots..

So many first years think they are doing great when in reality they are doing 'fine' but the senior is still fixing so many of their mistakes on the back end because they don't have the time to (re-)explain every single one. Odds are that your senior knows better than you here.

like

Maybe the senior fixed all your work papers before handing them up so the manager thinks you are crushing it. (Just joking OP no need to go on the defense)

like

They probably never got a good one themselves, so don’t know what that looks like. So often people suck at feedback.

like

Maybe it’s not the reviewer, perhaps it’s you? You sound like an entitled millennial

like

I dunno, as a first year I’d be interested in what I can improve on

like

There is only one framework for associates and experienced associates, so you are being compared against a 3rd year. Assuming you are a first year, they aren’t going to generally look good.

likesmart

Seniors are the ones interacting with you the most, so they see the real side of you

like

I assume snapshot is a quick review?

like

Mm, basically, it’s our primary mechanism for tracking formal review/feedback

like

Hmm perhaps it’s the major difference between reviews I’ve revived from directors/managers and seniors? 🤔 just a thought before you go judging away PwC 4

like

The entitled millennial bit is just so tired imo, and still not sure where you’re getting I’m not interested in learning where I can improve PwC breaux

like

Idk man, i find managers give pretty shitty snapshots by comparison

like

AGREED

Does the reviewer receive a notification per mail or something when someone requests a Snapshot?

Yes

Try Managers

Especially considering the original statement implies a comparison to snapshots provided by not seniors

Ey1 so true lmao

A generally true statement, but these managers and directors aren’t doing my snapshots because of all the free time on their hands.. not typical I know, but just wanted to point it out

Here’s a thought: maybe it depends on the person doing the reviews and not their level. Snapshots don’t have a lot of consistency between the way people grade them.

Looking to apply to MBB at 1-2 YOE after undergrad. Undergrad GPA isn’t bad, but not MBB quality. Will it help if I take the GMAT early and include the score on my app? How high is good enough? 750+?

Any thoughts around how to use M&A tax skills for the better good? I’m a CPA and originally got into this for a stable / interesting job, but in the long-term I’d like to do something that either influences drafting of tax legislation or helps the public (however naive that may sound). Perhaps I’ve gotten too introspective during the pandemic. Don’t really want to go back for a JD and aside from keeping a roof over my head I’m not very motivated by money. Anyone else have similar ideas?

The Way to a Higher Salary? Leave.

If I had stayed in the role I was in originally and grown with it, I’d be making maybe $120k, best case. I also wouldn’t have broken 6-figures in under 4 years by waiting.

The biggest lie that companies tell you is you can grow in a firm, both professionally and financially. The only ones that grow are already the people a) getting the promotions, or b) on the sales side.

If neither applies to you, the fastest way to achieve salary growth is to leave.

Hi everyone, I have a quick question that’s kind of silly. I work at a pretty small company leading marketing. My title is technically Marketing Lead but I want to put Head of Marketing on my LinkedIn etc. I think of these titles as totally interchangeable—I just like the way the second one reads better. I know titles don’t really matter, but I’m battling a little bit of imposter syndrome.
