6 yrs exp. as an attorney 4 yrs. as a prosecutor (child support). Worked at a boutique private practice, but I found I am not cut out for private sector. I let hours and terrible people affect my mental health. Returned to prosecute child support in a diff county, but I have not done well with on-boarding. I think I am exhausted from litigation and the people in it. My attention span is not good during WFH/Covid. The team has given me very negative feedback - they are very detail oriented.

What’s the feedback you’re getting? Here our CS work outside of trials is so controlled by forms, templates etc that caseworkers shoulder the detail work. I’ve found time-blocking helps me (8-9 review new pleadings, 9-11 court, 11-12 emails with OC etc) not burn out on a certain task.

Can open up your own defense solo place?

Has anyone else had a really hard time online dating with Covid? I’m aware things are getting better but I prefer to do outdoor first dates to be on the safe side. No judgement to anyone that does differently. It’s just what I feel comfortable with. I’ve had a few guys tell me they won’t do outdoor dates for some reason… some have cited weather but others legit say no (in 70 weather) because it’s a hassle & “Covid is a joke.” Please tell me if this is normal.

Boss has WFH for 9months. I have been WFH for 2-weeks for travel quarantine/state guidelines. She now requires that I go back to the office to “show face” that HR is right alongside the essential employees. I have been more productive from home vs the office. I get the perspective of team unity, but is it wrong to feel there is no reason to risk my health? The company justifies increasing my covid risk (high-risk already) to “show face”, when my job is being fulfilled while WFH. Am I crazy?

Hi All, I’m the bowl owner here, just wanted to mention that we are 50 members strong, hence I though we can do an anonymous introduction to mention where do you work, and where do you live… and what do you expect out of living in Pune city in terms of your career.

About myself, am working as a project manager in Citi, though I have moved to Mumbai from Pune during COVID to find a better opportunity here, I wish to move back to Pune in near future for better WLB and opportunities.

With apologies if this is too shallow a topic… I need advice on the best shape wear. I’m doing a keynote at a high profile conference in a few weeks and haven’t yet shed all the Covid pounds… I don’t care about comfort; I’ll be standing the whole time- I want whatever will hold me in the hardest :-) please help!!

The managing partner of my office likes to make jokes about Covid now that it is “over” (either in small group convos or speeches to the office). My dad died from Covid, and I honestly feel like it’s so insensitive for him to make these comments when he knows that I lost my dad to it. Our office isn’t that big, and I don’t think many people forget being told that someone they know lost someone from Covid. It has made me consider leaving because of it, but the economy isn’t great.

Additional Posts in Law Exit Opportunities

If you’ve decided you just don’t like practicing law, especially after several jobs, what have you done to leave? Do you feel compelled to use your JD in some way because, “well, I already got it”? Or are you okay moving in an entirely new direction?
I’m thinking of starting a new business unrelated to law. The JD and practice experience will obviously come in handy with typical business management issues like negotiating and enforcing contracts, basic HR issues, etc. (Cont. in comments)
