An acknowledgement email of BHM from Deloitte US Communications is not going to substantially address any issues Deloitte has in attracting and retaining diverse talent. EY is always on time with its emails - sent some on open sexual harassment lawsuits against EY partners (speak up), in support of PR hurricane survivors, and the big 4 consultant murdered by police in TX. My office/practice regularly engages in sexism and I see little mentoring/sponsorship opps for certain backgrounds in my practice. But at least EY US sends us emails... ?

OP you are right - I also find that inclusion is lip service in most consulting companies. BHM should always be a key month to remember the sacrifices given by blacks in America, and of the long road still ahead. I am not black, nor born in the US, but find the civil rights movement an important and commendable moment in American history. I’ll leave my rant of D and others not sending emails on key religious holidays unless it’s Christmas, Diwali or Hanukkah..,, damned the others is the attitude from most corporate America!!!

Is black history month another Hallmark holiday? Feels like another month where a group has proclaimed a holiday/month of recognition for themselves for an event which is only significant to themselves.... Breast cancer awareness month, moustache November, but has asked that everyone else give them recognition for it. Not saying that they aren’t worth the recognition, but when religious figureheads like Christ only get Christmas (not even Easter)... asking for a full month of recognition and pats on the back from others seems a little pompous

A lot of racism on this thread! I am black Deloitte employee and an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT is the least they can do! African American's history in this country is different from other people of color. Please remember that!

OP, if it bothers you so much why do you still work for D? Take your skills somewhere they are appreciated. If enough people leave the firm over these issues they'll have to do something about it. Lead the charge! You can do it!

But when something like what happened to that consultant in Dallas happens to a practitioner then it’s - “ohhhh we need to be more inclusive and ohhhh blah blah” but we debating about sending out a BHM acknowledgement email? Tf outta here

The overt racism and ignorance on this thread is deeply troubling. I am so sorry to all people of color on this thread - I can’t imagine how ignored, disrespected, and written off you must feel by so many of these hateful comments - a microcosm of our society if I’ve ever seen one.
