I work at a mid tier firm and my average raise over 5.5 years in public accounting has been 8%. Then this past year my bonus was $5k. How does that compare to other firms?
Remember the pilot episode of The Office when Michael calls Pam into his office and pretends to fire her? That happened to me today.... BUT I GOT A RAISE AT THE END.
Any Midwest SAEs here? Anticipating promotion soon and want to figure out what I should negotiate for
What's the best way to ask for a raise? Getting paid 71k with a masters working in advisory 3 years exp
Does anyone know how/where to find market data for salaries? I’m a risk consultant in public accounting and am trying to find data to make a case that I should be paid more (my recent raise was disappointing).
Would you move from D to other Big 4 with only 20k raise (115 -> 135k)? Assuming you need to restart GC process from scratch a year after joining
I’m at the Promotion Day celebration at Park Grill (Chicago). I came because I needed to go to Office to return my old Laptop. It’s loud and crowded. I’m never in the Office so I don’t know anyone. :(
Hi all - I’m working as a Jr AE at a remote agency. Before full-time at this agency, I interned there for 2 years and often did pro-bono work. I love my company so much, but I often feel stuck when it comes to salary and growth. The salary is minimum wage and every time I ask about a raise they agree I need one but never get around to it. Today, I was offered a position at another agency as a remote AE with more than double my current salary. I didn’t seek this job out but don’t know what to do.
Does anyone know if Starwood does a global promotion for the Fall? If so when does it usually start?
Hi all. Need an advice. I got a job as front end developer in pharma advertising agency 3 years ago. Started at 65k yearly salary. Next year got a raise to 80. A year after I was told I am good to be senior front end developer but my manager asks me to wait a whole year without title change or salary change just because he has been asking to much for me. Is it normal? Or should I just switch? Thank you all
I have 2.5 YOE as Unix & DevOps Engineer. I am still at C1 grade in TCS with 5 LPA. I am want to negotiate with my manager and HR for a promotion to ITA with 8-9 LPA package upgrade. Do laterals make you look like you failed to get a promotion? I’m up for promotion, have a great story and strong performance; a good opportunity to lateral came up at a much better firm - but promotions are so random and shrouded in secrecy at my company that I kinda want to join a better firm while I can.
Started a new job on January 25, 2021. Reviews and promotion packets are due at the end of the month. You can only submit a review and promotion packet if you’ve been with the company since December 31, 2020. I’ve gotten very positive informal feedback from my manager and other colleagues. Should I push to have a review/promotion packet now even tho it’s only been 3 months?
Current M&A tax associate, just got off the phone with a recruiter for a senior M&A position at a private company. Involves a massive raise but with the caveat I won’t be under a CPA to get the experience to be licensed. Should this be a deal breaker? I don’t think I want to stay in accounting/tax long term but it feels somewhat wrong to have spent all that time on the exams just to not get licensed. Thoughts?
Passed over for a promotion a third time, even after doing everything, and more, you’re supposed to? It’s time to GTFO
Anyone has insights into what type of TC RSM Director level folks get? Role is in CIO/IT advisory group. TIA!
Any advice/insight on suggested exit opportunities into the sports industry for a staff (soon-to-be senior) consultant with 2-3 YOE at EY in business transformation? Don’t want to aim too high but also don’t want to lowball myself. Thanks in advance!!!
So what's up with this FitBit / fitness tracker reimbursement I'm hearing about? Is that urban myth?
Hi everyone! I'm looking to leave the consulting world but don't know where to start. I live in the DMV so everything is government and/government consulting. I'm looking for a place that has an international presence that will help me expand my world view. Also looking for a place where I feel that the intersection of my race and gender is a welcoming attribute....done with the microaggressive attitudes that leads to psychological torture the consulting world has to offer.
What are your thoughts on the chief of staff role at a startup? I want to get into tech startups but don’t have an “idea” yet and am not a “builder/engineer”. I read the JDs for this type of role and it sounds like a great role for a former management consultant/strategic advisor and a good way to get into startups and set yourself up to run your own startup some day…is my understanding correct or should I approach getting into startups a different way?

How much of an impact did paid training help with you/your pup? I have a dog friendly office and once I get a pup this year take them in, and also want to go for an advanced level of obedience in general. Is spending several k a year in training worth it?
Is it reasonable to ask for a larger signing bonus if the firm says you’re not eligible for a discretionary bonus the year of joining, because you’re starting 4-5 months into their performance year?
Trying to understand the loan closing costs. Does 1.5 k lender fees plus 3-5k third party costs (for eg: title) sound reasonable?
Is it considered unreasonable or rude to ask recruiters to provide JD and compensation range before the first phone conversation.? I feel that would save all involved precious time.
Which practices at Slalom are a good entry point for someone with a little bit less project experience than expected?
Accidentally put body wash in my hair instead of shampoo... how many points? Also, now I smell like a lemon
Anybody has had any major client business related fails. For me an interesting one was we questioning CEO why they have not done (a rather obvious) cross sell to which he actually replied ‘we didn’t get around to it, but that feels like a good idea and an opportunity’ it probably costed the firm about 10-20% in profit p.a. for 10 odd years. I was amazed and horrified at the same time that he said it coz I would have been fired for much less

How much of my payroll do you guys think I should put into Apple’s employee stock purchase program? It entails a discount on the stock. I don’t have any debt and am bullish on AAPL but also don’t want to be overweighted
Hello my consulting friends. I’ve a final round at EY parthenon SSG group this week. They told me it will be a fit, technical and presentation interview. Could any of you help add a little color to what the interviews would look like. I’m not a very technical person so that “technical” round is giving me a little anxiety. Any help would be appreciated. EY-Parthenon
