A big wave of despair just hit me: realizing that delta is only getting started and with lambda and the dozens of other variations that exist in other countries, it’s hard to power through. Can’t ignore it cause we have a newborn but the isolation is going to be unbearable this time around.

We are never going back to where we were in 2020. Don't worry about it so much

Deaths and hospitalizations will probably go back or be worse than 2020. Just had a friend who was fully vaccinated end up in the hospital because of delta. Got it from his coworkers at a restaurant who thought they were safe because of the vaccine

This new wave will be short and cause much fewer deaths. See articles about how it affected UK. It’s already on very steep decline. Listening right now to “in the bubble with Andy Slavic” podcast. Lots of good info. We will be ok and out of this surge in 5-6 weeks.

what exactly will make isolation unbearable? having a newborn?

Limiting visitors. It was nice having friends and family come visit without masks on but now with news about how easily delta spreads, we don’t think we can allow most visitors anymore given our newborn isn’t vaccinated.

Not sure you are looking for this but a couple of thoughts… 1. In general (yes I know, not always), little kids are not a major problem group of corona, including the variants. Yes, there are some example but in general you shouldn’t be too worried) 2. Maybe to offer a different perspective, when you have a really little kid you probably aren’t going to be off jetsetting or eating out a ton anyway… we’ve actually found it kind of nice to mostly stay at home, go to outdoor activities, and see only the family. We have a three year old and a two year old and candidly I don’t want to do much entertaining or travel or whatever 3. Find ways to enjoy being at home. We like to out the kids to bed early periodically and then get dressed up and have date night at home. Cook a really nice dinner or get takeout. Open a nice bottle of wine. We have even jokingly made a few themed, like a downton abbey one where we dressed up in formal wear.

I’m mentally breaking down because I have been doing a job of a scheduler, PM, notetaker, regulatory submissions, and thus have no room for growth to work on strategy. I’m an AS and I am so sick of having to remind everyone because no one looks at my notes, recaps, and no one remembers anything from any meeting. Recently because I’m so exhausted I started making more “mistakes” like not catching a mistake on a submission. Is this because I suck or is it time for me to move off? I feel terrible.
