What are some racial/gender/age based micro aggressions you’ve experienced in the workplace?

My agency is opening up applications for a committee leader for DE&I efforts for the first time ever. This person will be responsible for overhauling how the agency approaches diversity, including employee training, internships, new business model and client communications. However, the role is a voluntary one-year term with no extra pay or incentive. There is no budget for this person to be trained themselves. How are your companies handling new diversity leadership? Should I voice my concern?

I need some perspective. Why are the majority of TV ads casting interracial couples and families? Inclusion is one thing, but the volume has negative effects too. Me - Zero brand recall just annoyed.

Has anyone bought/ done the HRCI Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management? I already have my PHR, but I’m looking to gain more knowledge/skills and beef up my resume. Is it worth doing? The course is $239 and you get 12 Recert credits with it.

Anyone here ever witness someone make a full career transition into being a DEI consultant, strategist, Manager or Chief Diversity Officer? If not witnessed anyone, maybe done it yourself? I want to fully transition into the DEI space but don’t know where to start… any advice on certificates or career pathways would help!

I've often heard "diversity of thought" (i.e. conservatives) as being callously injected into the diversity convo. Typically this coming from white men. What are your thoughts on this?

Hello! Okay, so in the workplace when coworkers ask about holidays everyone always mentions their family - husband, wife, kids. I always feel so uncomfortable when they assume I have a boyfriend/husband when I have a female partner but I feel like correcting them or just saying my partner will get me judged. Do you think the workplace just isn’t too accepting of sexual orientation for always assume the gender roles or am I just completely overthinking this?

I want to know from HR or senior management that do you offer less to female candidate provided she has same skills as a male candidate?

Help! I’m hiring, and it’s down to 2 candidates. One is not as qualified, would require a lot of training, a great fit culturally and brings diversity to the agency. The other is more qualified, still a great fit culturally and wouldn’t require as much training, they were more prepared and I could put them in front of the client tomorrow, but they are non-BIPOC. Both are in the same range salary wise, and my team is SUPER small. Both are great fits, and I am torn. Advice? Please?

i recently accepted a job at an agency that is very white. prior to 2020, in typical industry fashion, they were talking the diversity talk, had DEI committees, etc, but all white leadership and a huge turnover of POC talent.

2020–>now, it seems like they’re ready to walk the walk. they publicly published their numbers, are actively recruiting POCs, etc. but leadership is still white, as is the majority of the agency. sure, change doesn’t happen overnight... but should i stick it out or run?

My fiancé and I both have the CSR card and Freedom Unlimited combo and love them. We are thinking of adding another card and we were considering the Amex Platinum (to diversity transfer partners) or likely a United card for lounge access since we live in Chicago.

Does anyone else have both CSR and Amex Platinum? Would you recommend?
