I wouldn’t take it as an insult. It’s good they feel comfortable enough to say that to you.

Why so overly sensitive, they probably didn’t mean it in a bad way 🙂

I had the someone at the top of the agency say ‘cmon goose, talk to me’ The amount of self control it took to not retort back was ridic!

I have a client who has recently started calling me Dear... including when I’m running workshops. I know he means it as a term of endearment but he would never do that to a male co-worker. I’m unsure on how to approach him about it

As someone who looks young, I have heard all the phrases (hun, dear, sweetie ...) at one time or another. I just use the phrase on the instigater until they stop.

Where do you draw the line between sexism and being old-fashioned? I believe he thinks this is being respectful, but it rubs me the wrong way.

Hi ladies. I work in IT consulting and we don’t typically have to put notes in for billable hours, but a few weeks ago my boss asked me to start entering notes, about what exactly I was working on for client A,B,and C. I just said sure and didn’t ask why. I found out today from other colleagues that no one else was asked to enter notes in for their time. What’s a good way to ask my boss why the new change? I’d at least like to know if I did something wrong so I can improve.

Hypothetical that I'm trying to quantify for myself. Say I make $100k and feel I can comfortably spend $2k on rent. Assume for arguments sake, I'm happy at this level with savings, social life, etc. I get a raise to $120k. What can I now afford in rent? A) $2.4k. I got a 20% raise, so I can spend 20% more in rent. B) $3.6k. I got a $20k raise, so I can spend $1.6k (rounded) more in rent. C) Somewhere in the middle Traditional thinking tells me A is correct, but it seems conservative.
