A close family member died suddenly. She had stage 4 cancer that was asymptomatic. Never smoked in her life. Never even coughed. We were extremely close. Her sudden death has shook me to my core. On top of that I have to move my mother, who has been sick for sometime, into hospice this weekend. I’m finding it hard to gather the motivation I need to work the way I used to. I will add that I didn’t really take any time off so maybe that’s what I need but I hate when work builds up.

Please take some time off to process and find support with friends/family. And at the very least spend it with your mom, my mom spent a lot with my grandma before she passed and it truly made it better knowing she did everything she could.

These are seriously difficult things to deal with emotionally and psychologically.

If you can, please find a good therapist to help you process these challenging events and help you find closure.

I offer this advice as someone who lost their dad in the last year or so.

I can't tell you that everything will be OK... its never the same because the person you love deeply is gone forever.

However, it does get less painful if you let yourself grieve and mindfully begin the journey to find closure.

Please take time away from work- lean on friends and spend time on hobbies that bring you joy. Don’t feel guilty for spending time on yourself. Delegate tasks to others if you can.

If you don’t already have a therapist, consider getting one to talk to as you go through this difficult time.

I’ve suffered from workaholism for a long time. Thanks to a lot of great self help books and therapy, I’m no longer putting work on a pedestal and I’m spending a lot more time on self care and my marriage. But, unfortunately, I am now getting withdrawals, because my body is used to the daily adrenaline of throwing myself into work. Crazy ethics issue. Client 1 has VPO against man who later becomes Client 2. This is the 4th VPO this year, previous ones dismissed.

In the meantime, State has filed rape charges against man who becomes Client 2 and A/B charges against Client 1. Client 1 also files for divorce.

Clients reconcile (which is how they both end up clients...) and want VPO dismissed, divorce dismissed, and criminal charges dismissed.

DHS gets involved and want to remove the child from Client 1's custody. (1/2)
