She didn’t register for anything because she didn’t need anything and lives in a small-ish space so doesn’t want the extra stuff. Any ideas of gifts / nice things I can send her either before or after giving birth? What would you have appreciated?

My family is on my health plan and it’s open enrollment. Spouse is currently on leave and their federal health plan open enrollment is early next year. Is it possible to enroll us and our child on my health plan and then switch to spouse’s plan during their open enrollment? Also, typically are fed health plans that much better than private for families with one child?

How do you navigate the holidays, with or without kids? I tend to be pretty busy over the next 3-4 months and I always try to make as much time for family as I can, but it seems like it's never enough. My mother in law is pretty old fashioned and I can tell she thinks it's wrong that some nights I'm home late during the holiday season or when I work in downtimes during family holidays. My partner is incredibly supportive but I still feel some guilt over it.

What would happen if I left my current company, started at a new one, and got pregnant before 12 months of service with the new company? For reference, I know new company requires 12 months for FMLA, and STD is 3 months.

If I’m not eligible for FMLA, what would that leave situation look like? Not currently pregnant but husband and I are wanting to start trying soon, just don’t want to be in a situation where I can’t take maternity leave. TIA!

My employer allows to split maternity leave (ie one does not have to use the 5 months consecutively). If you had the option of doing this, plus support throughout (grandparents living next door), would you take leave consecutively or split it (for example use 2 months right after birth and 3 months later)?

Had my first miscarriage in 2019, got pregnant naturally that time. Tried for another 1.5 year after, and then went to RE. On my first round of Letrozole + trigger shot, we got pregnant. Saw twins at 5 weeks. 6 week ultrasound showed vanishing twin syndrome and we could only hear a heartbeat on number 2. 7 week ultrasound showed another strong heartbeat and we were getting hopeful. 8th week - no more heartbeat.
