Or, try telling them that it’s not really relevant since you weren’t in the UK. Otherwise, just tell them but be confident about what you’re worth when it comes time to negotiate.
Tell them you are not allowed share comp details under your current contract terms
To clarify, it will be obvious to them that it is an excuse not to share it with them, but it's poor practice from them and it's a polite way to tell them
I come from abroad and get paid significantly less than the market value here (over half of what I’d be paid here, after conversion to GBP).
So the harm is that I could get significantly lowballed if I share my current salary range.

Op - It doesn't work that way. I came from abroad as well and quoted my last salary. Every company has calculators that take currency into factor

Tell them and include the currency but make sure you know the range of the role you're applying for first so you don't get low-balled.
Your current comp is irrelevant to your new role. Just leave it blank, or type “Not permitted to disclose”, or if you must enter numbers, “00000”
