I’ve done PI work my entire career for over 10 years. I’ve worked in state and federal courts and I’ve traveled around the country doing MDL work and bellwether trials. I’ve had a lot of success making the idiots I’ve worked for wealthy, but I’m still waiting for a moment where I enjoy what I’m doing. I feel stuck working in dysfunctional plaintiff firms/cultures. I hate this profession/career more and more each year. Has anybody been successful breaking off on their own in recent years? Advice?

I’m managing a team of juniors. So I find when presenting our ideas I say we all thought of these as a team. But today someone seemed aggravated with it. For background I call out those key players in my one on ones with my manager but am I in the wrong by not doing it in the presentation? I love my job but sometimes I feel like I’m not satisfied creatively. I run a photography business on a side that’s picking up, and I sometimes feel a lot more excitement and fulfillment doing it, but I’m afraid of making a such a switch… growing up as an immigrant money was an issue and it effected me, it’s hard to come out of that mentality, my job allows me to have a bit of both good money and creativity, but sometimes I think about what happens when I’m older.
