I'm in NYC (just moved) and have great lighting, space, and an elevator and a garage and a balcony. You don't have to move out of the city if you're not sure about work. you can just move around here. Not sure your range or neighborhood preferences, but I think you can make due here if you want to.

like

Yep, dishwasher, washer dryer. Literally living a dream, and it didn't take me long to find it, even while searching from across the country Not sure your range but you can DM me if you want to look up my address- I think a neighbor just moved and not sure if that apt had been rented yet

Move down south. We now own two homes over 3k sq feet for the same price as our New York apartment rent.

I’m in Atlanta. I pay in mortgage for a home in the city what me + roommates did in rent for NYC 8 years ago. Very urban. Good mix of demos. DM if you want to chat.

Why is this a concern? Yes move! What’s worse, 3 days of insanity moving or a year of what you’re currently living in?

Cont..should we just bite the bullet and move and figure out the rest later?

First off a 1 bedroom w/ a baby is difficult no matter how you spin it. To be so little they sure do take up tons of space like they own the place. Congrats on your baby!

like

Yes! Move! This was exactly me and my husband and before we started trying for a baby, we moved to the suburbs. Tons more space and so happy. We keep thinking back what would've happened to us if we stayed in that tiny walk up apt. We would have died.

Move to a different place! There are great rent deals happening right now all over the city. Get a two bedroom or at least a nice 1 bd 1.5 ba in a building with amenities!

Move! Best decision ever and don’t miss my apartment.

To another city? Do you own your place? More specifics needed

We would have to move in New York for now since my husband still thinks he will go to his office at some point (we are wfh) . We have an apartment and would move to another apartment)

I am always incredibly impressed by people raising families in apartments/humbled by how quickly my ass adjusted to non-NYC living

The director I was working with in PwC had a similar situation. He rented a studio condo next to his apartment for work. Next means right next to his current and on the same floor.

Hubs and I decided a 2nd kid is in store for us. May not be easy as we struggled with infertility with 1st. I’m an SM, told I will be considered for partner in 1-2 years. Struggling with timing and need help with pro/con list. Should we go for it now, or should I wait until I’ve obtained the title I’ve worked for my entire career? I’d want to give 100% once promoted so trying now makes sense, but on other hand I’m aware of the limitations I would have juggling new baby and trying to make partner

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. Especially now mask mandates are being lifted feeling like we can’t go anywhere without risking our kid.

Anyone managed to fly their parents down from India to US off late? Cousin’s pregnant, trying to book tickets for early Dec. trying to understand how entry here is playing out here. I know Qatar and Emirates aren’t operational yet for flights from India to US.

Earlier when child marriage was prevalent (Early or mid 20th Century): Marry at 15/16 ..Live upto 85-90 Easily. Now when life span has decreased due to various biological and climatic factors and illness: Marry at 30-35 ....Live upto 50-60 max. After some years, Marriage doesn't exist. 😂😂

Found a niche in my legal practice and have been giving presentations, doing client development and working hard to create a space for myself. I’ve partnered with various mid and senior partners on some of these presentations, but I write the script, did the prep work, and have the case experience. One mid partner was asked to present my presentation at a conference taking place during my upcoming maternity leave. He readily accepted then called me to make sure I don’t mind him recycling….

Had a second baby almost a year ago now and just can’t get back into work mode. I used to be a workaholic and now can’t find any motivation in my current job. Most of it is probably sleep deprivation and feeling like I don’t have any time to myself anymore, plus burnout. Anyone go through this after having kids? How long did it last? I don’t have the option of simply quitting, but contemplating switching to a true 9-5, no-stress job, possibly out of law, while they’re young. But that’s scary.

Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.

I’m at the point that I start trembling every time I get an email alert. It’s the little things piling up that is getting to me. The to do list full of, “send emails to X about Y,” “follow-up re this,” “revise the 100 small things the baby lawyer drafted.” Tasks that might take 15 minutes to an hour individually, but all together it’s a lot. I’m the bottle neck. I’m the one who needs to move these things along. But there’s always something bigger and more urgent. Nothing’s ever FINISHED.

My spouse has made it clear to me that they no longer support me working in biglaw and want me to find a job with more reasonable hours. They were supportive early in my career and when we had one child, but our second was born a couple of years ago and all the additional work they put in at home, the lack of family time and lack of couples time is becoming a big strain on our marriage. We are in a high cost of living city so will have to undergo a major lifestyle change if we forego my biglaw..

How did everyone make the decision to not have kids? I’ve been on the fence for a long time but I just feel like the world is getting worse, people are meaner, bullying and the internet terrifies me, etc. What if they turn out to be horrible people? Mostly I’m scared of what I can’t control. Help.

Hey all! I am transition from Insurance Sales to Tech Sales (BRD and SDR). The final interview for one company is a research project. Theyve asked me to research 3 people at their company to whom Id sell a product to. Any advice? I need to inform them what product id sell, what id say, and how id research them.
