A few years ago I was living with my boyfriend in nyc in a cute little walk up and one bedroom. We got married and then had a baby, along with pets. cute walk up has turned in to a nightmare —we are constantly on top of each since there isn’t much space and I hate to lug the baby up/down the stairs when we go for a walk. Also stroller has to be dragged to the first floor. We wanted to move out of New York once we find job prospects but I don’t think I can tough it out anymore after one year.

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. Especially now mask mandates are being lifted feeling like we can’t go anywhere without risking our kid.

Found a niche in my legal practice and have been giving presentations, doing client development and working hard to create a space for myself. I’ve partnered with various mid and senior partners on some of these presentations, but I write the script, did the prep work, and have the case experience. One mid partner was asked to present my presentation at a conference taking place during my upcoming maternity leave. He readily accepted then called me to make sure I don’t mind him recycling….

Had a second baby almost a year ago now and just can’t get back into work mode. I used to be a workaholic and now can’t find any motivation in my current job. Most of it is probably sleep deprivation and feeling like I don’t have any time to myself anymore, plus burnout. Anyone go through this after having kids? How long did it last? I don’t have the option of simply quitting, but contemplating switching to a true 9-5, no-stress job, possibly out of law, while they’re young. But that’s scary.

I’m at the point that I start trembling every time I get an email alert. It’s the little things piling up that is getting to me. The to do list full of, “send emails to X about Y,” “follow-up re this,” “revise the 100 small things the baby lawyer drafted.” Tasks that might take 15 minutes to an hour individually, but all together it’s a lot. I’m the bottle neck. I’m the one who needs to move these things along. But there’s always something bigger and more urgent. Nothing’s ever FINISHED.

I just found out I’m pregnant and I am super excited! BUT I am on a trial which is slated to last 2-3 weeks when I’ll be 20-21 weeks along. It’s a big trial and will require staying at a hotel and working 12+ hours a day. Is that at all realistic or possible?? This is my first trial and baby! Help!

My spouse has made it clear to me that they no longer support me working in biglaw and want me to find a job with more reasonable hours. They were supportive early in my career and when we had one child, but our second was born a couple of years ago and all the additional work they put in at home, the lack of family time and lack of couples time is becoming a big strain on our marriage. Or at least hiding the identity of user identity Last time I was job less for 2 months, I applied to many companies portal nothing work. What works a direct post which i shared for looking for a job, short explanations of experience, skill and contact. And reshared it for 2 3 times with proper hashtag and tdda I got the job People are scared to post like this because of the manage.

I had a meeting with a supervisor today and she asked me how I was doing because the quality of my work was slipping. I started to cry and said I’m struggling with working from home. I’m super embarrassed but it lead to a productive meeting and her moving around some stuff. Is this going to bite me in the butt later? I feel like I look super weak now. I work for the government.

As far as reviews go- does everyone check Glassdoor and indeed before applying? I’ve had a couple companies reach out to me but they’re a 3.6 or 3.4 and doesn’t really spike my interest. I usually try and work for companies that are at least a 4.0 so I have some sanity left at the end of the day.
