I got my Bachelors in Psychology a few years ago but I couldn’t find a position that seemed like a good option for me that was well paying and fulfilling. I tried working as a tech at an Applied Behavior Analysis clinic but it wasn’t a good fit. I’m hesitant to try case management or social work because I worry I won’t like it but I want to use my degree in Psychology. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Does anyone have resources or direct suggestions for bonus goals/metrics for the legal department? I crafted a mix of goals related to contract turn-around time being under a standard time, being within approved budget, and some other measurable spend related goals and was told by executive team the goals need to be more “quantifiable” (which is a stupid criticism since these are all quantifiable/objectively measurable). Looking for other suggestions.

If you handle data privacy, but it isn’t your main in-house role, do you have some data privacy title designation? If so, what is it? I’ve seen “Legal Counsel and Data Privacy Manager” used.

When interviewing as the first legal hire at a company, what questions should one ask?

After trying to find an in-house job since July, I finally have an offer at a company that I really like. Total comp is around $20-25k off from where I want to be. Equity comp may be the only way to bridge the gap but they said they don’t normally include equity comp at the corporate counsel level, which is odd. I have found that most companies do. Has anyone received equity comp in negotiations where it wasn’t originally on the table?

How different is litigating in-house vs. in private practice? I just found out that a new hire who has 1-2 less years of experience than me (but will have the same role/title as me) received a compensation package significantly higher than me, mostly due to the market dynamics with law firm associates’ compensation being ratcheted up the past year. Does anyone in-house care about cover letters? I had an interview last week where the interviewer (a tech person and nonlawyer) said they found it odd that I submitted a cover letter. Aren’t they basically required? Or is this just a law firm thing?
