I interviewed for Data Analyst role at EY, it went well and the job sounds great, but I'm a bit hesitant to leave PwC because I really like the firm and I'm just 8 months in my job as an associate at a subgroup of ITS that has some focus on technology and analytics but it's mostly tax compliance.
I do want to transition to data analytics but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go to another big 4, or maybe just look for a position in industry.
Any advice or similar experience?
Hi Fishers, I want to pivot my career into management consultant. I am currently working as a Market research analyst with 1 YOE. Can someone please suggest me how or where should I start to build my career in management consulting at Big 4.
Also, please suggest entry level jobs that I will be eligible for with skills in Strategy, primary and secondary research, and competitor analysis.

Good thing you’re not a lawyer. Big 4 firms are not “protected classes”. But when you say “recruit against”, are you saying they filter out Big 4? Seems like an odd filter, considering Big 4 hires and trains some bright people in general.

It could literally mean no b4 for SWE positions or something like that. That’d make sense and is 100% legal.
Don’t think there is anything wrong with that. It’s like many startups or VCs don’t like hiring ex consultants

They probably have a very hard time filtering out the different parts of the firms they would prefer so instead just blanket ban after some bad choices.

Consulting as an industry is not looked at favorably within tech. The overall perception is that consultants solve problems via power points. Saying that b4 candidates are filtered out is an exaggeration and the rigorous interview process at tech does weed out “fluff” pretty easily.
The hiring manager at another big tech firm (also not FAANG) who initially interviewed me and was prepping me for final interviews told me there was a little skepticism against ex big 4 when he saw PwC was on my resume and that they preferred recruits from other tech companies. He said they felt consultants tend to “parachute in” for a project and parachute back out - no real skin in the game.
How do you mean against? If you mean they compete for the same talent, I believe this is common practice and common knowledge.
I used to work in tech (non-FAANG), and now B4. We didn’t actively filter out B4, but they always wanted more $ than we were budgeting for the role. I could see how this would eventually lead to filtering them out.
Maybe for hands on technical roles? That would make sense if they’re going to broadly discriminate I guess.
