I imagine how it is to be an analyst and work for K1. You ask reasonable question, get partial relevant answer, get scolded and sent to middle school books.
I found crossfit doesn’t lead to weight loss on its own; you are building strength instead of the extended cardio calorie burn of spinning
Carbs speed up your metabolism
Calories matter too — maybe your carb choices tend to be lower calorie? 🤷♀️
Whenever you ask a fitness question remember that the people asking are often insecure douchenozzles that put “1000 lb club” on their resumes. That being said it all really comes down to calories in - calories out. Carbs will give you more energy in the short term but are more easily converted to fat if you don’t burn them. So eat more carbs when you’re being more active but less if you plan to be stuck in the office all day. That’s why everyone loves keto on here since your body will burn your own fat when you have no carbs to burn
It’s possible that your high fat and high protein diets make you feel fuller and better because you are literally consuming more calories than a high carb diet. If you aren’t tracking actual calorie consumption then you a driving blind if your goal is weight loss
Fat is more calorically dense - 1 gram of carb = 4 calories but 1 gram of fat = 9 calories. So like was said above, it's important to consider the caloric difference. Additionally, carbs are your body's first source of fuel (unless you are in ketosis and fat adapted), so when you eat more carbs you may be able to actually put in more work in the gym as well. Also for weight loss, make sure that you are measuring over a decently long period of time (weekly average rather than day to day), and it's usually best to weigh yourself in the morning after using the bathroom and before you start eating/ drinking
Seriously? High carb diet is carbs and burns faster than protein in the short term; long term play is different.
Maybe knowledge of 8th grade biology should factor into the D case studies....
Also, I’ve tried CrossFit and Peloton (on demand spin class) with both of these diets, and it looks like high carb + peloton = weight loss. Sorry if this mystery is clear to everyone else, but I just don’t get it.
I think you all hit the nail on the head with the high fat high protein diet being also high calorie! Hadn’t thought of that. Thanks for the help to my dummy question 😅
Thanks @EY3!
