Do nothing. While I can try to appreciate your concern for work, it is absolutely not your place to share her news even in “confidence.” The project will be fine, pregnancy happens all the time and we manage.

Super like your thought process Manager 1. People give up on pregnant women the day they announce the news as if it is a death sentence and they will never come back from it. Responsible people make sure their work is not impacted and that’s what important.

Do not share, huge breach of trust. People figure out coverage and maternity plans all the time. You will have time to deal with it when she’s ready to announce.

Also sounds like your go-live might be 2nd trimester, that is typically when women feel the best during pregnancy, past the early nausea and not as uncomfortable as 3rd trimester when the baby is growing bigger. If she has any physical or medical limitations she will discuss with her doctor and inform work as necessary. I understand your concern if you have no experience with this, but don’t be that colleague who assumes a woman is less capable because of this.

Thanks everyone, I was honored that she shared it with me and trusted me enough even though I am her lead. I do not have any experience with pregnancy so far and I was just worried about her knowing my project demands. I was leaning toward not sharing or letting a word out until she is does it herself. I wanted some validation and I am glad you all could help with that. Thanks 😊

Op- I agree with everyone here. However, you can have som low key things done - perhaps work with her to come up with a plan, ask her to documents what she does, processes, etc with a focus that at some point it may have to be transitioned. I think both of you can work together and come up with a plan action.

It’s her news to share. She honored you by sharing it with you coz she thinks you of as a friend or confidant. Don’t act like a co-worker. Just be her friend and be for her. 😊

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

Has anyone experienced prenatal depression? I’m 10 weeks pregnant with my 2nd (I have a 1.5 yo) - I’ve always been a very happy person, so these new emotions have hit me like a ton of bricks. A Partner reached out to me and mentioned I was staffed on a project. Two days and Career team still doesn’t reach out to me confirming my project. I’m busting my ass, before the Partner tells me that I would not be billable till we get the internal approval and I should charge my timesheet to offline work. This is my first job. Should this have happened? Can I do anything now? What can I do to manage this going forward?

I’m terrified of pregnancy but not of motherhood (except for the noise, kids are so loud). Pregnancy/breastfeeding looks horrible to me, but I’d feel bad about missing out on kids because I was scared of something that wasn’t so bad. It doesn’t help that I don’t know a single pregnant person—in my 30s and none of my friends have children! Any moms out there who can speak about what it’s actually like?

I rolled off a project 3 months ago. They keep reaching out and asking me to help onboard new teammates to give them historical knowledge (it’s a long-term project). Do I have to keep doing this? Or does it get to a point where I can say I don’t have the time and there must be someone more recent who can help?

I've a question on what sections to put on a regular resume. I see some people are using consulting style resume for outside companies as well. Do you think it's a good idea to devide work experience by projets? Or is it better to have "projects highlights" separate from work experience.. something like: intro>functional expertise> project highlights>work experience>education?
