Have I missed my chance with biglaw? I need someone to give it to me straight. For the past year or so people have been telling me I have a shot, and I’ve been applying left and right and doing all I can to network. I’ve been hopeful the whole time, but I rarely even get an email response back. Graduated from a good school with good grades but have only managed to scrape up staff attorney positions. All I need is that one “yes” to prove that I can succeed, but it’s not coming.

Young professional seeking guidance on different ways to get certified as an HR Professional - I have about a year of experience as the HR coordinator for a start up and I have taken a few courses through Cal Chamber and SHRM…any pointers or guidance on next steps?

Which certification we would you recommend for career advancement to be an HR manager? PHR or SHRM? Any other certification I should consider? Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated!

Calling all consultants, implementation specialists etc. How do I make the switch?

I have been in HR for 11+ years with experience in company big in small and gone through an IPO and acquisitions on both sides. I've built HR department from scratch and I'm finding I love implementing foundational programs and systems, especially hris. How do I move to a consulting type role (either traditional consulting or working for a company with a consulting service)?

Best job to get to transition into HR?

Does anyone know where to start in HR please?

My goal role in 5 years let’s say is Chief People Officer / People & Culture Director, etc.

My background is 12+ years in customer/client experience, coaching, sales, and account management. I’m finishing a Lv7 executive coaching course and starting a CIPD Lv5 people management course.

Any ideas on what roles I can start with? Don’t care if it’s a simple role, getting in with a good company is important.

Anyone move from HRBP to ER and compliance? Did you like this move or felt like you wanted to go back to being an hrbp? Looking for some insight as I decide between a new hrbp role or stay within the org to take on a ER role. Thank you!

Creating in-house vs side hustle:

After years working in a particular vertical, I’ve developed a framework that allows me to quickly research, size, prioritize and produce inputs for organic growth. It’s different from anything I’ve directly on/done while working at any company, and I’m tempted to build an MVP with a freelancer but scared of my employer finding out, expecting me to building it in-house (taking ownership) /file any type of (legal) complaint against me. Recs/thoughts?

I would like to get into HR, any suggestions?

How would you explain in interviews that your work was the level of a specialist/director even though your job title was that of a coordinator? The other factor in this scenario is that I only have one year of experience yet was given responsibilities that trusted mentors I asked would deem as the work for 2-3 people. I am an young professional trying to understand how to navigate this field! Appreciate anyone's comments :)

For those of you who are SHRM CP certified. Can you please advise if the SHRM learning system is worth it? Are there other effective learning tools that are less expensive ?

Currently shopping around for a new HRIS system. I have 3 different EIN's under the same company approximately 450 employees. Any suggestions?

Hi HR Team! I have a question for the group. I just signed an offer letter and employer is doing background check. I have a misdemeanor oui w/ a reckless driving misdemeanor . Is this generally acceptable. 1st offense, nothing else on my background. I am actually appealing my guilty verdict also, btw. Can someone put my anxious heart at ease while I wait on this to return?

Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.

Has anyone interviewed with Mastercard for an HR or TA specific role? How was the process and any feedback/advice would be very much appreciated!

I have two questions. I have 10 years of experience in multiple sectors and I have been trying to gain a leadership position. I am attempting my PHR this summer but what are some tips in order for me to obtain a leadership position? Also, how long does it take to obtain another position out of state? I am trying to move to Houston but I don’t want to move until I am confident I can obtain a position in the city before packing up and leaving.

HR in the small business I work for seems to mean "administrative asisstant to every department".... does anyone else feel this way? How do I change this? Especially when the leadership themselves treat HR like their assistant.

Has anyone worked with the company Jobot to fill an open position? They reached out to me that they have a candidate, but it seems a little fishy... and I have worked in the Staffing and Direct Placement industry before.

Hey all,

I am interviewing with 7-11 as a Management Recruiter position. Any tips before the interview, I really wanna get this position and kill it!

Honestly, anything would help, thank you!

Im working on a position for our finance dept. hiring manager wants an accountant with financial analysis and planning background mixed with core accounting functions (Accounts payable/receivable) what job title would you recommend I use. I posted as Financial Analyst and not attracting pool we wanted. Previously posted as an Accountant role and still not attracting right candidates. Thoughts anyone?

So, at my workplace (university), we're essentially eliminating any full-time position if it's not currently filled. Which, I get it...we're going into a retrenchment period...but I think someone to run the tutoring center (for example) is one of those positions we might want to fill and not eliminate, you know? Anyone else running into situations like this? Are you feeling the recession pressure?

Anyone work as a recruiter for Slalom consulting? Feedback?
