Making Work More Human - A Q&A with ex-KPMG Partners 11/6

A lot of senior leadership say "trust the process". Where is the line between trusting the process and submitting to bad behavior?

The issue I have with accepting “small bad behaviour” is that pretty quickly it becomes normalised. And then one accepts a bad behaviour which is a little worse and so on.

“Trust the process” does not mean accepting bad behavior it means by building the proper framework (culture, policy, first principals, etc) we can trust that the “bad stuff” will be weeded out. The former “process” has to be established before we can expect “trusting it” to produce positive outcomes.

I had a senor mock me by saying “ I have a question I have a question” because I am new and I do ask a lot of questions

“Trust the process” is not “trust that there is process”. If you know the process and it looks robust then it’s fair to ask you to trust that the process does what it says it does. If the above don’t apply, asking you to trust without information is generally not a strategy taken by the trustworthy.
