Hi all, I’ve been pondering this question in my mind for awhile and haven’t found any solid answers. How much is the average wage for a Prep Cook & Dishwasher? If it matters, I’m in Virginia. I’m in the process of learning to be a Line Cook so that should give me more courage to ask for a raise. I’m currently at $14/h, and with reduced hours, inflation isn’t helping me. Any insights will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Midlaw associates: how much of a raise would it take you to lateral, all other things being equal? Currently paid $140k salary + $5-10k discretionary bonus (not based on billables) as a second year in a major market. Another firm offered $175k + $30k-$40k bonus to come in as a fourth year. This is a no brainer, right?
I'm up for promotion this year and am starting my third trimester today. I hadn't told anyone at work about my pregnancy. Had a conversation with my MD today and was so nervous. He was surprisingly very supportive and seemed excited for me! For anyone else in a similar situation, sending you good vibes 🥰
How do I ask for a raise in a confident way? I hate asking about money, but I feel I’ve been going well above and beyond my duties for a long time now, and I’d like to get compensated for it. I have never been good at these types of conversations. Any tips?
Hi everyone, I’m an architectural designer (from Europe) with 1.5 yrs experience. I’m working for a practice in San Francisco, full-time from the office, getting 25 an hour. It is so expensive to live here, I am struggling to make things work. Is this a normal salary for someone of my experience or should I ask for a raise? I don’t want to be greedy but it’s so expensive out here… Thank you 🌈
Should I be happy because I still have a job or should I be mad and sad because I didn't get a rise? I'm underpaid and got a 9k raise through 4 years of work
I just saw on big4 earnings transparency website someone from CohnReznick with 0 years of TAS experience in NYC is making $115,000.Person is S1 and an internal promotion. Is it true!!!
Is it easier for you to work from home? Or from the office? Thinking of leaving my current company and taking better paying analyst job but they didn't tell me it was hybrid until they offered it to me. Is potentially 8 1/2k more a year worth it to drive to the office 3 times a week OR should I stick it out and try to get a raise where I'm at? Commute would be about 40 minutes each way on a day with no traffic, so an hour each way realistically.
Anyone expecting promotion ?
I got HR discussion tomorrow for Salary negotiation maybe as I have asked for 90% hike.
I have been nominated for Band promotion in my current company but will be effective from Jan2023. As per my research I will get 30-40% hike as well as I am eligible for annual hike on March 2023
So how can I stick with 90% hike on CCTC on HR discussion tomorrow?
What if HR negotiate for 30-50%...can I inform them about promotion before hand once they ask why I am expecting 90% hike?
Hey Fishes, I have 3-4 YOE with already senior level role at my current organization. Cognizant is offering me an Analyst role only. HR saying on promotion, I'll be moved to senior level. Can anyone tell me what is the designation structure in @Cognizant
Great great thanks in advance!
Started my first full-time job in June making 38k. I’ve been doing much work above my pay grade since our AE left. Bad to ask for a raise closer to my 1 year ani? And how much should I ask?
AE role above me is vacant & is not being back filled soon. Was told this is a “great opportunity” for me. Wondering how much time is appropriate to pass before pushing for a promotion...
Taking my SHRM-CP exam on 12/13. I got an email saying that Mac users will have to reschedule if they have the new software. I do. But I really wanted to take the exam that day because I was going to put tell my employer that I am certified so I can get a very much needed raise.
Idk what to do 😩 any advice?
Hi Tech Sales! I’m working toward my promotion to AE, 1 years of experience in sales, and I’m curious to see what is expected revenue you need to bring per month or percentage increase, and what data was helpful on your promotion materials. Looking to maximize TC!

I’d like to be prepared for the initial phone screen convo, which will only last 20-30 minutes. The JD shows the salary range as 110-130(USD) commensurate with experience, but I’m happy to land anywhere in that range—yet I don’t think it’s good to disclose that. How can I tactfully still talk to the recruiter about landing closer to 130? Not trying to be greedy, but certainly aiming high!

Does your company offer any sort of monthly reimbursements (phone reimbursement, Internet reimbursement, electricity reimbursement)?
My previous company offered $50 for phone and $25 for Internet as monthly non taxable reimbursements (added through payroll and receipts were not required). My current company is reimbursing up to $30 for electricity each month upon receipt and is thinking of adding it to payroll as a recurring taxable reimbursement.
I’m no tax expert: what is the right approach?
Looking to brainstorm a bit here: my fiancé is potentially going to start looking for a new role after tax season is over. I think he would like to get back into sales/account management but looking to see what everyone’s advice would be in terms of type of roles and companies to go after!

I am a Senior People (HR) Business Partner working in NYC under an H-1B visa (9 years of experience). I am looking for something new, but I am finding it extremely difficult to find a company who would support an H-1B Change of Employer (COE). I either get declined immediately as part of the application process or get told the company does not support visa sponsorship for non-tech roles. Any tips, tricks, or great companies where an H-1B COE would not be an issue?
Anyone willing to share some best resources (books, podcasts, etc) for imposture syndrome? For awareness, I am a white women in HR. Appreciate resources that are “self-help”. Also considering a therapist but hoping to also own the process myself for quicker “recovery”. TIA!
Who here has taken the SHRM-CP and does anyone have any advice for testing and/or studying?
